Alternator adjuster bracket

  1. #1
On the alternator tensioner pulley, there is meant to be 2 brackets that holds it in place, the person before me done a bodge job on it so im after these brackets.

Anyone got a diagram and part numbers and rough pricing please ?

    Thanks,

Nop, i got a new one of those, but there is meant to be a bracket that goes behind that with a bit that bolts up through that to adjust it, mine has been bodged on with a massive washer to keep it straight.

Similar, but it's 2 brackets to mount the whole thing on.

I wish i could find it on Citroen servicebox

    One of the brackets:

It's the bit behind, that the bolt goes through and holds it all in place.

    Bottom left one here yes;

I shouldnt imagine its anymore than a tenner from Citroen directly mate, most tensioner setups are sold as a set so youd be lucky to get hold of one second hand.

I'll hopefully take some pics today so that you can see what's missing.

Anyone got a diagram? I still can't find it on Citroen servicebox.

in servicebox, go onto the engine part, click petrol, then click on the alternator, then select TU5J4 and the picture will come up.

    Or you search for 'alternator'

Ok, i know i need number 6 - Bracket but not sure about number 3 - support bracket or number 4 - support bracket.

    I believe i may need all 3

Have to take a look and see, either way £38 isn't too bad i guess for all 3

Unless someone knows somewhere cheaper than the dealers?

    Thanks,

    Andy

is your torx bit a hex shape or direct socket fit?

you could use a 10mm spanner on most torx bits instead of a ratchet.

    cheers welshpug,
    torx thats it
its hexagonal. it fits into 6.5 mm socket (or 6 can't remember) but i can't get a socket on it, spacewise. 10 mm wouldn't fit it if im understanding you right. also when on. the torx is literally just under the belt. i pushed the belt down and put it in above the belt and tried an adjusty on it. will try 6mm spanner in a min see if that turns it but the belt is also pushing it upwards, palarva(?). either im missing something or its a pretty dumb set up,
    thanks man

had a look around seems a bolt is generally used not a torx

id have done it by now if it was a bolt. should a torx be on there?
  19. #19
a torx bolt is originally there yes but it shouldn't really matter. My old vts & gti had bolts instead of torx.

off for another go, no surrender!!! (until i do)
