Revving on its own? :L

Whyyy is my sax revving on it's own? usually when I slow down to about 20, go to change to second and it revs to about 2000 then goes back down again?
Also does it when im parked up sometimes?

    Ideas?

    a shot in the dark but;

ontop of your oiltank theres a little connection with 2 pipes coming off each side, on the left side of it.. the pipe MIGHT be loose causing alot of air to escape.

When i was fitting my induction kit i accidently snapped this and had to buy a new one, and whilst it was snapped there was a whole in the pipe and it caused my car to rev at 2k idle, fixed when i replaced it.

ICV possibly, as when your parked up it will tend to bounce up and down the revs, other just sounds like standard downshifting, but I'm sure I've read that wrong lol

    no thaats what it does!
when im stationary it kind of jus bounces up lol!
    whats an icv?
gosh i learn so much off this site lol

ICV = Idle Control Valve, thinking I may need one as well. Mine does the rev up a bit then drop occasionally when parking up or stopping at lights.

ICV = Idle control valve, it's situated on the back of the throttle body, generally it needs a quick clean and it will be fixed, there is a guide on how to do it, mine needs doing but keep forgetting, it won't harm your engine, just really annoying! lol

    ahh thats ok then ppppphew!
thank god ive got you guys haha x

Mine used to do that, pull up at lights and it would rev all by itself lol.

My bf changed my icv for me and it hasn't done it since.

Get someone to have a quick look at it, then you will have proper peace of mind if it gets fixed

Idle control, mine varies between 1100 and 2000, if i pull upto lights, clutch down the RPM rises, if i shut off the engine and restart it settles out at 1000 again.

couple of days ago it actually revved low, to the point it just about stalled untill i caught the accel. pedal and caught it.

Me and my pop gonna take ICV off, rinse in to pet-a-rol then re-fit.

    will let you know

a little off topic, would using some redex in my tank be a good idea? i know it probably cant hurt, but since i havent got a clue HOW well maintained its been kept, i mean, 6 owners, the chance redex has ever been used, and the injectors are full of crap, wouldnt hurt to clean them out would it?

Either that, or fill up with BP Ultimate mate,

Nice one cheapest place near me is actually a BP, cheaper than shat sainsburys stuff in fact
  17. #17
Bastard haha, its the most expensive round here for me, but probably as it's on the A1, so is motorway prices :/
  18. #18
Yeah the texaco is actually the closest for me, but since im literally on J26, the prices are bumped up because of all the reps driving through =/ so an extra mile down the road is the BP and its a co-op petrol station, thats BP, so its cheap

Mine does this every now and then. Only seems to do it when i slow down behind someone at lights, makes you look a right tit revving at them
