hi whats ur thought on these, and what do you think is better to do? i have had a lok on both but seeing what you think is the better option, and any1 have either?, what do u think about it cost wise
supershcarge or turbo

#2supercharger for me,
but turbo if you want that 'pushed back in your seat' feeling -
#3im thinking supercharger but whats the cost /fitting differance between them as i had a go in a freinds turbo n it was great
-
#4They prob work out around the same cost - both not cheap really
-
#5Your looking at 5-6k for a good reliable build
-
#6mate get a argos air filter has the same type of feeling...
-
#8Just to make this thread a bit more useful...
For about the 250bhp mark.. Charge or Turbo? Thats what im aiming for next year... -
#9hard call - budget?
Depends on what you want from the car and the power delivery you want ? -
#10Can always go with both if you cant decide.
-
#12Don't even bother i have 150bhp at best and im more than happy. Power is nothing its handling, lightness and control that wins!
-
#13It because most people assume its going to cost a few hundred pounds and a few hours to work to get a boosted system working. If half the people carried the project out then there would be a hell of a lot of fast cars on here.
-
#14+1 I don't think people actually appreciate the costs of building some of these cars tbh and the work that goes into them.Quote:It because most people assume its going to cost a few hundred pounds and a few hours to work to get a boosted system working. You could drop the car off and let a company do the full setup, but you would pay thousands and thousands in labour ! -
#15Learn to spell first.
-
#16+2 People see the dogs**t 'turbo kits' on ebay for £200 and assume thats how much it costs to get a boosted saxo up and running. Try multiplying that by about 40 for a reliable setup. I've lost count how much money I've spent getting mine built, and cant even begin to guess the hours spent on itQuote:+1 I don't think people actually appreciate the costs of building some of these cars tbh and the work that goes into them.

#17For me though the fun is in building it, spec'ing it up, getting parts to work with each other - working out what would be best, actually modifying parts to work etc.
not the end bragging rights figure.
Agreed on the cost though, it's a lot !! But then this is a hobby................. -
#18Say you had 3k to spend over a year or so?
Reliability would be preferred over the full 250 bhp.. so anywhere between 200 and 250..
Say you did most the fitting + tweaking yourself.. but if you went pistons etc you'd need that bit done by a professional.
would 3k do it? -
#19I'd say would be tight for £3k but definitely do'able. Pistons and fitting - £1k ? ECU and mapping £1k-£1500. So leaves £500 for the rest, not enough !!Quote:Say you had 3k to spend over a year or so?

prob best to go turbo on that budget.
You're looking at £2k for charger and bracket and belt for charger! -
#20AHhh poosticks! i always forget about ECU+ mapping when I imagine going boost...
Hmm...
I keep thinking about boost.. but i'd want to do it properly and tbh i dont have the time or money to go down that route atm.. so maybe its off the cards :|
