Throttle bodied vts..

    Got a vtr at the moment, engine has quite high mileage though. And being as I wanted a little bit more power anyway thought might aswell swap for a vts engine. Now i got a fair few months to start saving the pennies. But I was wondering what kind of performance to expect out of a cammed and throttle bodied vts. Gonna have a few other bits done to it aswell, so decent exhaust system, 4-2-1, lightened and balanced flywheel, and port and polished head.

    Also most places dont like mapping standard ecu's to run things like bodies and i dont know an awful lot about engine management, was wondering if you guys had any recomendation as to what ecu to go for?

    What cams are you looking at? A fast road type, eg. PH3?

    Would only look at polished and ported head if I was going for a higher lift cam personally, would rather spend the money on high compression pistons.

    Anyways, anywhere between 160-180 depending on certain factors.

    Predator is a good budget plug and play setup that many people including myself have. Otherwise I would personally look at OMEX or Emerald.

    Yeah Im looking at getting some ph 3's. Also as far as im aware fitting a vts engine only requires two changes, the top hose and a lower engine mount or something? Is this correct. Cheers

    Everything you need to know/confirm about the 16v conversion you can find here;

    I wouldnt waste your money on a ported and polished head to only be putting TB's and PH3's in it. For the money it costs, it would be alot better spent on handling the power better e.g. gti6 brake setup or similar, Bilstein setup, polybush's etc. etc.

    Value for money ECU and you best off going for the Predator which will manage the new set up nicely, however theres quite a few management systems out there.

    Thanks,
