Advice needed.. which looks best?

  1. #1
ok guys, i am thinking of spraying the inside of my bumper grill black, to create a "wide mouth" look...

i have knocked up some quick proofs of before and after,

can i jave some honest opinions which you think looks best.

    cheers

btw, the edited version looks like ass, i know! lol

    BEFORE

    AFTER

Again, excuse the crappy editing, and kinda squint a bit to see it clearly!

    thanks

    looks better with wide mouth
  3. #3
    Yer i think so.

every1 round my way has standard saxo's, standard wheels., no individuality at all. all generics, dont think any1s got ther balls to do anything tbh.

so i am like modded saxo numero uno, which is weird!

i do prefer the wide mouth, but dont wanna spray it and then it looks shit... theres no going back once that tins being squeezed!

Any1 got any tips? i am gonna be using Satin Black, just a plastic primer, and laquer.

not sure if i can be arsed doing all kinds of cutting and fibre glassing things smooth!

only problem with spraying the bottom splitter is that its totally untreated plastic, quite alot of prep work is needed, and imo is alot harder to get a smooth shiney finish with, im still trying to get mine 100% but its worth it, i havnt seen ANY saxo's in my area like mine
  16. #16

    mine done
  17. #17

this is mine with bottom splitter painted this is an old photo so car looks diffrent now but you get the jist
  18. #18
id say dont paint it, either widemouth it properly or dont do it at all
  19. #19
Leave it and get it lowered instead
  20. #20
paint it i think it looks nice love it on silver saxos too

lowering is gonna cost me about £350... and to be honest i would be sick if i paid that to make my car lower!

after buying an apex kit and getting it chucked on... its a 3rd of the price of the car, so not worth it at all IMO

i love lowered saxo's, and always wanted it doing, but its just too expensive.

plus i am prob gonna be gettin rid of the saxo sooner or later... another year or so i think in the build quality is driving me crazy. so if i spent close to £400 on making it lower i would have to keep it for a while more to get my cash out of it, and then i would end up making a massive loss on resale. i HATE losing cash...

where as spraying a bit of my bumper would cost about £10... so not really the same mate. lol
  24. #24
350, if thats including the kit, its not bad, and is worth it IMO
  25. #25
    +1 Go for the Widemouth

    £220 for the kit...

and up to an endless figure for some1 to fit it...

i cant see the pro's really. yer it looks sweet as fuck. but you lose all ride quality, and in a saxo you start off with zero... so if you minus away from zero... what u left with? lol

Wide mouth look nice, mirrors the grill nicely.

depends who yo get to fit it, and i dont get what your on bout with that?

I got my widemouth done, has to be done professionally IMO, seen to many on here, and you can tell they done it themselves, not a good look

well most people dont cut it out they just paint it like hes talking about which yea imo looks shit either cut the grille out and have a proper widemouth or just leave it and if your only having the car for about a year, you can buy springs for about £60 fit them your self and then get a garage to do your torsion bar which cost me another £60 so thats only £120 to lower it
  30. #30
why dont you just mesh it

well hes on about a real suspension kit not just some springs, apex dampers are £220 iirc and my spax springs were £60 and lowering the torsion bar was £60 so it cost me £340, i did only fit springs to start with but then i fitted the dampers rides much better with them

Yer, i am talking about a full on suspension upgrade.

the thing is, i cant gaurantee i am going to only have the car for another year, you dont know whats round the cornewr, i could lose my job or anything, and i wouldnt want to be chucking some springs on standard stock shocks coz i heard alot of reports that it wont last very long before you have to upgrade... dont want to be on a time line really.

sayin that, i know a guy who has had standard shocks and 40 mm springs on them for about 2 1/2 years with no problem. i suppose its all about how you drive, and i dont thrash my car. so maybe i could look into that.

My corsa is lowered on standard shocks, i wouldnt recommend it. although it is really low in the arches and sits nicely the ride is pretty uncomfortable plus i went over a bump a little too quick in the dark and it bent my whole tracking contol arm and drivers side shock. So id do it properly
  35. #35
    Widemouth ftw..
  36. #36
i had the 60mm springs on oem shocks for a while they were fine, were still stiff after a good 6 months of me using them, as long as they are in ok condition to start with you can get away with it, dont think the moment you put lowering springs on, it will mess up your shocks
  37. #37
Yea i think it looks better before!
