timming marks

   has any one got any idea where the timming marks are for saxo vts 2000 reg

   there should be two holes in the head which are 8mm an 8mm drill bit is perfect to lock it, if you turn the crankshaft round you should the the holes in the pulleys line up provided you have removed the timing cover

   timming cover has been removed as i done the head gasket for the last two days. i have had the belt back on but it taps slight and the timming is out but not by much.
   where is the timming mark on the bottom crank ??????

   remove no1 spark plug and put a thin long screwdriver down the hole until you find tdc and the mark that on your crank pulley so you know it hasnt moved,

   Its not lazy you pleb its common sense. If he dont know just read it and he will sure as hell understand that more than he does you..... time it up properly by locking the crank and cams via the holes..... use a screw driver?? good luck and have fun replacing valves when its a couple of teeth out.

   turn the engine over by hand until you can slide a 8mm drill bit in the crank hole and with abit of luck the 2 cams will be lined up aswell so stick drill bits in them holes to lock them, job done remove belt and fit new one then take the drill bits out and turn the engine over twice by hand to make sure the valves dont hit the pistons then if its turns over fine and build up compression your good to go again.

   lol its running alright atm lol but i thinks its only a tooth out so not much i done a lot of timming belts but never on a saxo lol.
   so should be ok lol well if not engine rebuild here i come

    as i stated use a long thin screwdriver to find tdc then mark it on the pulley, and whats wrong with 8mm drill bits to lock the cams because if you buy the proper timing tool for the 16v whats in it? 8mm pins, just trying to give the guy some advice and save him money not a two word answer that tell him next to fuck all

    Its not hard if you have done timing belts before. Iv had the head of my 16v twice now but one time it was a bitch to time up but that was due to putting another head on and the cams needed adjusting on the pulley but if you dont touch them your fine.

    lmao lol u two dont argue. all advice is helpful but saving money is a big thing lol.
    so there is holes in cams and crank to look them all in place??

    Yeh there should be mine has. the crank hole is to the right of the oil filter where the gearbox joins to the engine you might struggle to find it and the ones on the cams is easy to see a blind man could see them lol.

    tdc stands for top dead center, it is when the piston has reached the highest possible point in the cylinder
