tensioning alt belt

    now then i took my alternator off tonight now then could not get this bolt to spin does it need to be loosend to tension the belt?




    is it a case of loosen that bolt and use the threaded bar to tension it up?

    if it's the same as mine then yes but looks different. just give it a go mate not much can go wrong.

    was only using a spanner and it looked like it did not want to turn lol will get the breaker on it tomorrow and see where we get too! makes sense to be that bit

    theres to 13mm bolts that hold the tensioner to the engine. slacken them off then the adjustment screw you can see . the threaded bar is the tensioner to adjust slack or tight. theres a small allen key think its a 4 mm but you can just use some pliers or materpump pliers to grip it and turn in.

    anti- clockwise tightens it
    clockwise loosens it

    set your desired tension then re- tighten the 13m bolts

    tension . you should be able push the belt down approx 10mm at longest part of it no more

    cheers for the help mate! will get cracking with it tomorrow! but i thought it was 5mm up 5mm down in the middle of the longest run of the belt?

    probably is mate just thats what mine is at m oment with no squealing neverovertighten it as crank pulley will slip and fuck up or bearings in alternator will fuck up lol

    that sounds like a plan! will have a look and tighten it to what it needs to be cheers mate! and i got a braker bar not and its now loose ready for refitting!
