There a good set at a good price.. I have had mine a few years now with no problems. The halfords ones are crap tryed and tested very weak things.

well worth it blackie, got mine a wee bit cheaper but after having an experience with a spring slipping in the clamps i guessed it was about time to spend!!

im sure if i look about i can find one a bit cheaper, as said mine are getting a bit tired now, ive had one slip off before, nearly took my fooking head off, made a nice mess of a mates bootlid also...... they are quite dangerous, also had a few slip a nit on compressing and nip my fingers, hurts like a bastard

I used mine 2 weeks ago from halfords and they are awful and dangerous as under pressure they started to slide around the spring. Also because of the thread they take ages to compress! Imo use the draper 1s

£15 from screwfix and they aint too bad, that's what i used when i needed to changed a mount and held on pretty well

I agree with the hydraulic system. Much nicer to use. Just need to justify spending the money on them.
  14. #14
Yeah i must agree they look well worth the money if you can justify the use!

Get the idea of cheap spring compressors out your heads now everyone.

I have one of the upright hydraulic compressors and cannot fault it, the halfrauds ones and infact any that cost less than a few hundred quid i would not trust.

If you arent using them often cheap ones are ok. Ive had a set of crappy lazer ones for ages
  17. #17
getting a finger caught in a coil is a bastard lol

looks like spending the money is well worth it,
