did you get water in the air inlet?
  3. #3

wet/blown fuse. check the filter to see if its damp.
  5. #5
i have checked the filter and it seems dry, im not sure about a fuse how would i be able to check?

there are fuses under the bonnet infront of the passenger side suspension strut. possible wet area, failing that could be wet plug... have a look about n see if you can see any exposed plugs or electrics which may get wet easy

ive had a look around and as far as i can see there arnt any wet patches, the problem happened as i have bonnet spacers at the back to higher it to stop the engine overheating and normaly id put a few towels to stop water going in but as i was in a rush i forgot so all the hose water off the windowscreen went under the bonnet?

i have used a towel to dry up as much under the bonnet as posible but still wont start?

what it do when you try to start it?
  9. #9
all the lights of the dash light up as normal and the engine clicks but wont start?

i originaly thought the imobliser was on
  10. #10
clicks.......... may be starter motor then, anything else i would think it would start but not runn well. that would be in the right area to get wet from hose spray to i think. check the fuses under the dash to, i would have thought anything which got wet would just blow a fuse

yeah i will check the fuses now, is there anyway i can tell there blown without replacing them all?
  12. #12
every time i try start her the engine managment light, oil light and fuel light come on? i have half a tank of fuel?
  13. #13
Will more than likely be starter motor mate, sounds like the solenoid is firing the bendix out but it isnt spinning when it hits the flywheel, get a mate to sit in the car with it in neutral, and get a hammer or other hitting tool and tap the starter whilst you crank it, should work, just means your starter is playing up

i think that all the dash illuminations light up until the car is started, which includes the oil light, airbag light, and any ABS and management lights, if these lights remain on with the engine running it indicates a problem, but not until its running

yeah thought the lights did never paid attention to them untill now, alright mate i will give both the idea's a go replacing the fuse and the starter moter bit rediculus it started every time i washed it and now it doesnt start so im guessing it may be a fuse?

ditto hit it with hammer, sounds mad but may need bit un jammin
  17. #17
tried tapping the starter moter isnt that, it there any way i can check if a fuse is blown without replacing them all?

what did you wash exactly, did you do the engine bay?
  20. #20
naa i washed the car itself but as you see in the picture above i have a raised bonnet and water had gone in?
  21. #21
and you have checked all the 30amp fuses under the bonnet? , whenever i test a starter i remove it from the car and hook jump leads to the starter terminals, this makes sure it is firing the pinion out properly and that the gear is spinning
  22. #22
narhh i havent been able to yet pitch black outside, is there anyway i can check the fuse is alright without replacing it?

i dont think its the starter moter because untill i washed it the car was perfect

taken the spacers out now though

Notice how the metal part of the fuse circuit on the orange fuse has melted, when this melts the circuit is cut off as the fuse completes the circuit. yellow is a good fuse and the orange represents a blown fuse, using these you can visually check fuses if you dont have a test light
