saxo vts misfiring- HELP!!

  1. #1
my saxo began to start misfiring about two weeks ago, but only lightly. it progressively got worse, to the point it was doing it constantly. i've had it in the garage for a week now, and had the coilpack and plugs changed, compression, injectors and ignition system checked; but, all is fine, and two weeks on, it is still continuing to misfire. i've been told it could be the ECU, but would this cause this problem? could anyone help me on this please, i would be very grateful
