PAS, Heater, Rear Demister, Battery Light.

  1. #1
Whilst driving yesterday my PAS decided to fail, and my battery light came on.
At closer inspection my heater fan and also rear demister are also faulty. I have checked the fuse that controls the above and is fine.

I also got told it may be an ignition problem and have tried the solution in the link below but still it didn't work.

I think it might be a relay..?
Does anyone have a relay diagram or any other ideas...

    Thanks Tom

Get your alt checkd 2mro at a garage or do it yourself and i will put money it will not be charging the battery.. Citreon ran some electrics straight of the altenater in the saxos,if its not diods in the alt gone then its the rectifier.. Either or! I will not be wrong... Trust me..

Hey guys, first time on here, just wondering if anyone can help me? about 3 weeks ago i had my ; PAS , Rear Demister and heater fan start playing up, all three things were cutting in and out for about a week. So i looked on here and saw the thread about by passing the ignition by connecting the two brown wires on the left of the connector block togther. after doing this everything was working fine for a couple of days then notthing. all three decided to stop again. So i checked the obvious things like loose connections, fuses, relays and all were fine. dont know what else to do? Garages telling me its probably my PAS pump but dosnt seem like the case to me as the fan and demister have gone, leaving ne thinking its got to be elctrical? If its my alternator how do i check please guys. Thanks and sorry if i posted incorrectley.

    Wrong.

MikeWheeler is right. The PAS, Heater and De-Mister can be the infamous ignition barrel problem that several people have had on here, where the ignition barrel doesn't tell these three things to start working when they should. There's a fix on here that includes splicing two wires together, that'll override the ignition barrel use.

The battery and PAS together does sound like the Altenator for sure, but as the PAS, Heater and De-Mister have gone, that sounds like the classic symptoms of this:

The wire can be a bit temperamental. How have you connected them together? I used a connector block and insulation tape - just make sure they have a secure enough connection. I heard someone say that it's quite a high voltage that passes through these wires, so you don't want to just twist them together with tape.

Okay thanks for that mate, like i said i have already done the ignition mod so can't be that. so i suspose i should check the alternator any ideas on how to check this? I know the battery light should normally come on the dash if the alternators not giving charge to the battery, so does this mean its not the alternator? Also could it be anythiny else?
  11. #11
When i first sorted the problem with the mod, i just unplugged the connector block and re connected to make sure the contacts were okay. Then it went again a couple of days later. so completley took the wires out of the block and touched them by hand? I persumed by touching them electricity could pass through them, or does it have to be a tight connection? by the way this was only a temporary fix, wasnt just going to leave them twisted togther, just wanted to see if it was the block not connecting the wires togther before buying a new one.

Ohh I see. Well try crimping the wires and connecting them using a connector block so it's a more sturdy connection.

I tried touching them by hand and it didn't work at all for some reason, couldn't work it out. As soon as I crimped / connector blocked them they worked perfectly!

http://www.saxperience.com/forum, go under "Saxo Problems & Queries" and it'll be up top. Failing that go into your control panel on here and click on a link that says something like "View all threads posted in". Should be easy to find them

I'm on here quite a bit so feel free to give me a shout! I had this problem about three weeks ago so I'm happy to help!

Just to make it perfectly clear on how they should be connected if you've cut the wires:

Yup, you won't believe how bored I am in work. LOL.

A garage should be able to check your alternator for next to nothing, nevertheless someone on here should help you out with that

Nice one mate, iv got some of the conector blocks like youve shown and its still not working. But thanks anyway. Iv got it booked in for an auto electrition to look at tommorow, any ideas how much it might cost or what sort of price i should be looking at paying to get it done?
  17. #17
You've done the connector block to the two brown wires, and made sure the fuse is definitely okay, and the three still aren't working?

Not sure about prices, could be expensive but I've no idea sorry!
