Car keeps cutting out?

  1. #1
Posting on behalf of a friend who has a 106 quicksilver.

When starting the car it then kills itself instantly, but if you give it some fuel its fine, but soon as you lift on the accelerator it cuts out again.

Therefore driving it is near impossible as if you have to stop at a junction it cuts out.

My ideas as to what it could be are along the lines of crank sensor/ICV, anyone else got any sudgestions as to what it could be?

    cheers

Got a similar fault with mine too - tried a search yet ??

apart from mine starts on the key and when you apply the throttle it dies.

Common problem there of loads of threads on this

Usual suspect is icv or map sensor but 9 outta 10 its icv, try first cleaning icv and trottle body, that normally works, in fact i gotta do mine today

i got this exact same problem with my 93' mk1 clio. Except i dont have an ICV i dont think ???

ICV (idle control valve) is the most likely fault as already mentioned mate. If not that then the MAP sensor is also possible. Neither are hard to come by and are quite easy fixes.

First thing to do is clean ICV. Guide here on how to: http://www.saxperience.com/forum/sho...t=CLEANING+ICV

    Check:

    Airfilter
    Crank Sensor
    Vacuum Hoses
