ICV Problem? Or Not?

   Hey
   
   Just been for a drive and my car was acting really weirdly like it kept wanting to stall when i drove steadily at 30mph in 3rd gear. Then when ever i came to a stop it would just stall? And every time i drive get to about 3K revs then put it into neutral to coast it just dies on me?
   
   Anyone got any diagnostics?
   
   My friend said disconnect the battery for half an hour then see if it does it again so that is all i have done so fare.
   
   Cheers if you can help! I'm hoping to sell this car soon as well so this is the last thing i need.

   ICV
   Map sensor
   or try cleaning the throttle cable

   Cheers mate ill get some carb cleaner tomorrow and give it a good clean hopefully that sorts out the problem

   Mine was the same, Idle valve control and map sensor, also put a brand new throttle body on it...

   Did you have to put a new throttle body on or was that just out of choice? If so how much am i looking to get this fixed?

   Does sound like the ICV, just get a new one for the sake of £20
   
   Seems weird that the idle control valve can cause the revs to change when you are driving along in gear though.....surely it should just change the revs when in neutral?

   If you have a mate with a spare coil pack put it on your car,see if it makes a difference.

    Could also be the coolant temp sensor too

    I just went for a drive and ill try and explain it again, Im driving 3rd gear steady speed at say 2k revs and it sort of wants to stall when im driving and almost everytime i stop my revs just die and the engine stalls.
    
    At first i thought is my clutch slipping but if it was slipping wouldnt my engine be reving higher as my foots on the accelorator?
    
    Going Halfords tomorrow to get some brake cleaner give it a good clean then ill get back to you cheers for all the help!

    I cant see why the ICV could cause an issue whilst in gear and driving
    Surely the ICV kicks in when the car is in neutral....or 'idling'?
    
    Sound like something else to me

    Getting Carb cleaner today so ill get back to you all if it sorts the problem out!

    Just cleaned the ICV its made a suttle difference so im going to remove it tomorrow then give it a good clean so im hoping it just needs a clean
