If it soes how can I check if it is working because I am still having trouble starting my 1.1 when cold in the morning. When warmed up no problems at all!
While I am here, where is and how can you clean the throttle spindle?

A choke is a mechanical flap used in carburettors, it creates a higher vacuum in venturi and therfore enrichens the fuel mixture ehile at the same time a cam or linkage opens the throttle slightly. Thi sis all old skool stuff now and injection engines have an ECU to take care of cold staring conditions, idle speed and everything really.

Open bonnet an dlook at engine, depending on model of course, you should see a big black pipe that goes to a device mounted at the back of the engine (not behing d the engine). This will be held on by a jubille clip an dneeds a screwdriver to loosen it off before it can be removed. Under there you should see the injector and throttle assembley. Clean this area and spray it with carb cleaner.

Good luck and by the way mate, just get stuck in , don't be scared to take things off and if you panic why not take a few pics on your phone 1st incase you forget anything?

    Good luck with it all.

good avice about the not being scared to try, i was like that at first, all looks scary. but once you get stuck in, especially with such an easy car to work on, you'll get to know what does what. really an ideal little car to learn stuff from in my opinion. i knew naff all before i got a saxo, now know how to repair alot of stuff in the engine bay

alos theres a guide on here about cleaning your ICV, really easy to do.

Ive taken the icv off but there is only one moving part so I am unclear what to do with it! It is different to the one in your picture ( my car is a standard 1.1 sx) . Is the green plug the engine temp sensor?
My cars fault is only apparent from a cold morning start almost as if I was trying to start it without the auto choke operating! Still confused!!

If you mean a sensor plugged into your air filter housing then thats the air temperature sensor. If the sensor you mean is plugged into the thermostat housing then thats the coolant temperature sensor.
