Put a turbo on Saxo

  1. #1
i people... well i'm tired of mine Ph3 camshafts caus with my pistons with cavities.. i wont get the best performance that i had :\

well i was thinking in a turbo.. what do u say? the volume its more so.. do you think i can apply a turbo making 0,5 bar and have no prob?

    thanks
  2. #2
Yes, with only 0.5 bar boost you wouldn't necessarily need to have forged internals
  3. #3
thanks, but say me someting, i usualy drive calm but sometimes like to drive faster and some drags.. do you think that the engine will not colapse with those 0,5, its safe?

i was only thinking in the turbo and a radiator of oil..

I may have mis-understood you're comment but are you only putting on a turbo and a radiator of oil?

well i was thinking on it....

its safer to the engine with only 0,5 bar or what?

for a start there is alot more to do than that. I am not a turbo expert but you needs to sort out fueling, manifold, intercooler sort out you're compression the list goes on and on

i would also like to see this vid sounds good

I think the OP means an oil-cooled turbo rather than water-cooled.

&Judging from the name + commas instead of decimals, I'd guess English isn't his first language.

I thought he meant oil cooler

hi people not my first language you're right
    im portuguese.

yes i meant a oil cooler and a turbo..
    this is what happened:

i had PH3 camshafts working great.. but i had put pistons with cavities and the compression and performance its now very bad :\

    so i had 2 solutions:

    - or a turbo, cause my internls are new
    - or a better camshafts..

well after thinking.. the tubo would involve some more costs, and i should be carefull with it even with 0.5 bar.. so...

i will put a catcams 734, with my pistons with cavities... what do you think?

    thanks to all

    I say Turbo bud
  13. #13
Everyones going to say turbo because they all wana see what it preforms like with one but a turbo will most probable require alot of cash and time to get running smooth, cams should be easier and safer option but all up to you.

    bodies ??

Popular phrase... N/A the expensive way to go slow

    a VTS
    Bodies
    PH4's (and all the headwork)

    would see what? 180bhp?

a low boost setup would see that PLUS youd then have the option to turn the sucker up

sounds like youve fitted lower compression pistons saying they have cavaties??

therefor the as a naturally aspirated engine it wont perform aswell as they generally use a higher compression ratio

if so then a turbo is about your only option if you want to keep them
a turbo setup isnt cheap and an oil cooler would be needed but so would an intercooler some form of better injection (wether it be a 5th injector and mf2 or standalone and bigger cc injectors)

you could keep the ph3s but returning to the standard exhaust camshaft may be to your advantage

thanks to all your opinions guys!

I had put the 734 camshafts

now i'll make the diagram with the specific degrees that catcams say for these camshafts... than ill post my feedback

even if youve fitted those cams.... if your pistons are low compression pistons, the performance will still be poor

can you get pics of the pistons tops, are they low compression, or do they have deeper valve cut outs
  20. #20
    so these are the pistons:

  21. #21
    Deeper valve cuts then
odd setup as a cam wild enough to require those would benefit from a higher compression
That is a lower ratio as the cutouts add volume inthe cylender

Fitting a higher cam may work but how are you correcting the fueling??
  22. #22
Naa they will be high comps - extra material up top with just little cut outs for the valves
