#2If your temp readings are messing up i would look at engine coolant sensor, as for cutting out could be a number of things.
Try cleaning ICV or could be faulty MAP sensor, Throttle postion sensor, engine coolant sensor, lambda sensor, coilpack, blocked fuel filter, spark plugs or vacumn leak.
Probably even missed a few1 user thanked this post: -
#3really well il check these all out, do you think all this will be in relation to the odd misfire in the lower rev scale? thanks for the advice

This is a great guide for cleaning ICV, i followed it on weekend.
Not entirely sure about causing the odd misfire but one of these faults could well cause it i suppose, especially if it was a faulty coilpack or something.1 user thanked this post: -
#5thanks again mate iv taking down notes, where would i locate the coilpack? thanks again.

In there under spark plugs is how you take coil pack out on a vts, better than me explaining it

#7The coolant temperature sensor can cause intermitant misfire issues, i had this problem on my current mk1 vts. Changed just about everything else sensor wise on the engine before sorting the issue. Very frustrating to say the least!
Though with my issue the temp guage on the dash worked fine which was strange. Dunno if that is controlled by the thermostat though

#8thanks for all the advice people but as i am unaware of citroens does anyone know where i can get information to find all these sensors and theyr locations? thanks a bunch people

#9A haynes manual is always good to have handy. Also you can use the search feature on this forum. But if your stuck people are normally more than willing to give advice.
The sensor for the temp on the dials is a blue sensor (might be wrong but i think its blue) which is usually located on the right hand side of the engine block. The engine coolant sensor is also in this place and should be green.
The ICV and Throttle position sensor locations are in the link i posted earlier.
Lambda sensors are generally located around the catalytic converter in the exhaust.
The MAP sensor is usually on the left hand side of the throttle body unit.
Sorry about descriptions best i can give without pictures to support

#10If you're needing a hand at some point mate drop me a pm and i'll see if i can meet you somewhere. Actually, as it happens the rovers play away at falkirk on saturday, so could come through and kill two birds with one stone...

#11VTS has two coolent sender gauges, one for the dials and one for the ecu.Quote:The coolant temperature sensor can cause intermitant misfire issues, i had this problem on my current mk1 vts. so even though your dials reading fine, doesn't mean the ecu is getting an accurate reading.
