Does anybody know what this is for? I've a throttle body that the connector is broke off and want to know If it can be done away with.
Vacuum pipe from throttle body to fuel rail
-
#1
-
#2got a pic of it mate ?
-
#3I don't unfortunately. It's a small pipe that connects to plastic throttle body and runs to a valve on the end of the fuel rail.
-
#4I thought that was the fuel feed for the rail ?
-
#5There's only 3 things that will connect to the fuel rail, the fuel feed, a fuel return, and a fpr ( fuel pressure regulator)
-
#6get some pics up mate, might help
-
#7infact it will help lol
-
#8its the pipe from the FPR, its just for excess fuel to be drawn in to the inlet and burnt.
-
#10its nothing to do with excess fuel it alows the fpr to regulate the fuel pressure in Relation to the engine speed/ load so in other words no you cant do away with it but there are other pipes you could T into and block up the hole in the tb where it was befor take a pick and will be able to give more accurate advice
hope this helps tom -
#11Thanks Tom great idea t'ing into another pipe.Quote:its nothing to do with excess fuel it alows the fpr to regulate the fuel pressure in Relation to the engine speed/ load so in other words no you cant do away with it but there are other pipes you could T into and block up the hole in the tb where it was befor take a pick and will be able to give more accurate advice

#12funny that since i dont have mine connected to the inlet and i know a few others that dont.Quote:its nothing to do with excess fuel it alows the fpr to regulate the fuel pressure in Relation to the engine speed/ load so in other words no you cant do away with it but there are other pipes you could T into and block up the hole in the tb where it was befor take a pick and will be able to give more accurate advice

#13get some pictures up mate, people getting confused lol
-
#14just disconnect it, and see if you have any problems, just make sure u block the hole in the inlet, ive just ran a pipe from the FPR down the back of the engine on the quiky, and will be the same on the GTI. I didnt mean to use the word excess, as excess fuel is delt with by the fuel return.
I remember lewis doesnt have his connected too, so ill use his pics lol
FPR with blue pipe

Ends here, left of pic

The FPR is there to maintain a constant pressure in the fuel rail/fuel lines, it DOESNT! increase or decrease with the engines needs, all tho i do believe it lowers the pressure at idel, but not 100% on this. its just a pressure valve, sometimes a little fuel gets past and is expelled to be burnt through the inlet, having the pipe disconnected means the fuel will just dip out the line to the floor. Just remember to block the pipe/hole in the inlet
