m.o.t fail !

  1. #1
car has failed today on off side rear radius arm pin & bust also front ball joint. its not the front thats the problem its will i need a new back axel ? help please.
  2. #2
mine failed on radius arm pin/bush too. i changed the full axle , i found it easier to do this than to change a radius arm (changed one on my old mk1 punto.....was a f*ckin nightmare )
  3. #3
Yeh change the whole axle is easiest option

    1. Give IM Axles a ring for a good quality brand new axle

    2. Go to a scrapyard or wherever, buy a second hand axle and see it fail again in 2/3 months
  4. #4
or try mandlyslover, i got mine from him, was cheap and was already lowered
  5. #5
yes thats wot i have been told just to change full axel, how much am i looking at for new 1 ? any ideas. a mate of mine said he will replace the parts for me or shall i just replace or even scrap the car because i dont have alot in the funds atm. thanks for your help

cant believe your considering to scrap it over 2 things lol.
take a look at my fail sheet lol. http://www.saxperience.com/forum/sho...d.php?t=368327

if you buy from im axles there around 300 roughly, mandyslover around 150.
bottom ball joint is a tenner off ebay , then just need to get a garage to press it in, not a great deal tbh

That fail sheet is nothing compared to my VTS when i bought it, i had 3/4 pages of red failure and 2 advisory pages

Some people ask how my car is still on the road

Its more like £365 from Im Axles.

Not only is that the price, you get just an axle, you need to take hubs off etc and then put them on to the new beam, good luck getting an old bearing off and re-fitting them properly, you don't want to muck up bearings. Hubs are £50 per side by the time you add it up its more like £465 and if you get a garage to fit will easily be another £100 making the total £565.

Its a risk to take a second hand one but as they come with hubs etc its pretty well priced @ £150 providing its decent.

I took my radius arms off on my own changed the pin bearings and put them back on with a broken leg as everyone was to busy to come and help anyway my point is its not that hard so long as u have the tools and the stub pins arnt nackerd.

Bearing kits are 40-50 on ebay alot cheaper than a new axle like everyone ALWAYS surgests

I brought my Saxo cheap had 47k on the clock S reg nice condition, but it was cheap because the guy selling it said the headgasket had gone when I came to change the head gasket turned out the engine was scrap so £350 for a new engine then the gearbox went £150 to pass its MOT it needed a new rear beam, cat, brakes all round, inner CV boots, ABS sensor, and alot of welding I stuck with it and got there in the end problem is by that time my cheap saxo wasnt so cheap anymore but like outrage_uk said if you stick at it most problems are easy to solve and u actually learn something along the way hardest part is the welding luckily my brother can weld.

    Regards
