Pugsport on a sax??

  1. #1
Am i right in thinking that the only problem with fitting a pugsport to a saxo (VT) is that it misses the cutout on the rear bumper for the tailpipe to come out of??

If so a smooth bumper and longer zorst rubbers will fix this no??

    thanks

why would you want to when you can get a saxsport which is basically the same thing bit fits in the recess?

As i picked up this pugsport cheap...asin manifold back for less than £150, 3 months old, so for the sake of a 3" gap to have smoothed...whats the problem?

tbh Gav I don't like the sound of the Saxsport, here is what I mean.

Sound of Pugsport on my GTI:

Sound of Saxsport on my mate Jimbo's VTS:

It's the design of the backbox with the tailpipe in a different places, transforms the noise and I don't think it's as nice as the Pugsport.

    I'd love a Pugsport for my 1.0

Pugsport's look nice on a flatarch because they hang nicely below the bumper, it's a bit harder on a VT
  7. #7
but if the recess was removed then that would effectivley make it sit like on a flat arch no?
  8. #8
they sit lower on the pug so in effect you want shorter rubbers to bring it up into the recess, but this is where the last one i did was problemeatic as the link pipe then hits the beam. so smoothing the bumper sounds good........
  9. #9
is it possible to get the tailpipe to sit in the recess though?? and when you say link pipe, do you mean where the centre pipe meets the backbox?
  10. #10
yea sorry, thats what i refer to the pipe as yea, the last one i did looked poop, as when we got it tucked up to a reasonable height it vibrated like a beast on the beam. it also needed to be swung to the left(viewed from the rear of the car) which them meant it tapped the tunnel with the middle mock cat.

Using those two videos as an example is hardly a fair test. I mean, your GTI seems as though it's in a garage in that video? Correct or not?
And the sound of the VTS, sounds like its in a partially enclosed environment with a shit ton of reverb. Not to mention different quality recordings. It would have to be done in the same environment, with the same acoustics, and the same recording equipment to make a clean cut judgement. (Damn my college course actually making me think about acoustics!)

Or, if your feeling flush, purchase both systems, and drive down the same bit of road, and see what your prefer

    I know lol.
It's in Alex's garage lol and it's actually Alex revving both cars.

Didn't rev my GTI hard because engine was cold in that video/

What I was getting at though is the Pugspot has more of a boom sound to it which I prefer where as the Saxsport is a lot more rasp.

it's easy to do you just need to cut the hanging arms on the back box and reweld them to match the saxsport model and it will fit perfectly in the original recess

Thought I recognised that sleek floor lol. I could live in that bloody garage! It's a nice set up.

I can really comment on either, I'm yet to hear a Saxsport, so my opinion in a comparison thread is not valid, I will happily throw in a bit of an acoustic debate as a curve ball however lol.

no your wrong the pipe on the saxsport is longer and the hangers are shorter

you dont need longer rubbers mate my pugsport sits flush with the bottom of the bumper and its hung on powerflex bushes which are normally tighter and i find looks really good, you will defo need to either fill the existing cut out in to make it smooth or cut out the whole bumper recess like planetsax has done as it does look abit daft if you leave it

No I meant I prefer the Pugsport lol.
I know Pugsports rasp mine did when it was warm but I don't like the noise Saxsports make, it sounds very fake. Almost like VTEC.

if you have already got it cheap get it fitted and fiddle like fuck until its right!

lol yea i think tbh they sound a bit flat considering they're suppose to be a grp n exhaust, pugsports on the other hand

someone on here has already smoothed the rear bumper with a pug sport i loved it, i have a smooth rear bumper and i have a supersprint center section and a 1.1 back box atm and i am tempted by getting a pugsport, but i keep thinking thats going against why i smoothed the exhaust recess in the first place so i can have a hidden exhaust lol

also im sure any exhaust place can bend the hangers for you and get it to fit
