engine flat spot!!

when im driving normal or hard when i go between 2000-3000 rpm it hits like a flat spot and doesnt like going quick through the revs then sudenly when you hit 3000-3500 its like the cams kick in and it flys. Its a vts.

    why is it doing this?

ive changed loads of sensors because i had a bad idle. icv, lamdba, both temp sensors, map sensor, tps, spark plugs (NGK iridium), coilpack

    cheers matt

    That is normal

really well my vtr wasnt like that so i cant see how its normal.

I've just bought a VTS and it feels the same as that too. I still have my VTR and it feels a lot torquier than the VTS.

I'm going to change the fuel filter on the VTS to see if it improves the performance as I don't think it's ever been changed. You could give that a go, if not you could try a rolling road to see wht it's putting out.

It's not a vtr though is it - the 16v behaves a bit differently to the 8v

I've got a vts engine in my ax - feels flat low in the revs and then picks up as it goes above 3500 revs. Know a few others with the 16v engine and everyone says the same. Makes for good mpg when you're not ragging it though

oh ok but when im lower than 1500 rpm it misfires and doesnt want to move??

That is probably an unrelated issue, the sensors you changed did you buy new ones?

yh all of them were new

thats because the engine has no power under 1500. i can just about cruise at about 20 at 1500 rpm, but it certainly wont accelerate

oh ok haha its just so different to my vtr

My VTR feels very punchy through the rev range but has nothing left at 6000rpm. The VTS feels pulls way past that though I've no doubt the VTS would be quicker but the VTR just feels quicker
