Is there any Gaskets or fitting kit needed to fit a sportex?

My furio sounds weak so been looking for a catback. Searching the web. Seen this, not a bad price? Or anyone seen better. Does this pass MOT.
Anyone else got same, or links to videos with this.
Rough figure on how much a garage would charge to fit it aswell?
Not saying its gonna change with intense power, would like a bit of noise too.
If anyone has any other good ones theyve seen, please post.

    See last post on gt3.

Nah never got one, never saw the point. I loved it anyways lol

Probably much longer than 5 years
  10. #10
So basically. Should be good enough. Its cheapest straight through I can find up to now.

Sportex is very good I have a 3 in sportex cat back and pops and is loud. Yes will pass and mot defo. Will cost like 40 to get fitted but if I was u I'd do it myself sayin that I'm an exhaust fitter but trust me its easy just few bolts

Cheers bud. Youve got same as above then. Probably best if i didnt fit myself, as I havent a clue. You got a video or owt of yours? Or notice any difference. Mates got a straight through on his C2 says obviously no massive difference in speed, but seems more responsive.

    Do it yourself, easy mate

Is it worth going all out, or just getting a backbox?
  15. #15
Personally I'd just change the backbox. Because your CAT is in the manifold, you cant easily de-cat it. And your Furio should have a straight through pipe anyway.

If youre really just after noise then just change the backbox, which you really dont need to take to a garage at all!!! All you need is a spanner!
  16. #16
Not on about decatting, just wondering wether its worth the straight through.
  17. #17
no whats he's saying is that your furio's a mk2, so iirc the cat's on the downpipe, so you will have a straight through centre pipe anyway, so best to just go with the backbox, decat it for more power, backbox for more noise

So buying the above package is pretty pointless? As original pipe does the same thing.
Although been quoted a custom straight through from exhaust uk £280. I aint a clue.

Stick your head under the car and have a look if its got a centre silencer or not, it shouldnt have.
The only advantage of the Sportex system is their "race pipe" is a larger diameter than the stock Furio one, so it will increase flow a little bit, but not enough to create anything noticeable.

Sod paying £240!!! Although I do rate Exhausts UK.

What kinda tailpipe you after? I've got a one piece exhaust here you can have for £20 thats got a jap can on the end. If you come and collect it I'll even fit it for you! This One

So probably just go for a backbox then, no offence and cheers for the offer, but no jap stuff, far too big. Only lookin for about a 3 or 3.5 inch maximum.

Iv now seen this on a lads thread that hes got. And wondering if anyone else has one. Or heard anything about em. Its either this or a sportex. And the sportex has mixed review.

Lad iv seen with one, loves his. Id like one loud, but not like full on, pulled by the federals loud.
Cheers for that sniper link. It does say vtr, but should be no worries with mine being a furio should there?
Might have to find some youtube examples on this sniper. Like the fact its full stainless. Cheers bud.

My mate has the sportex cat-back on his MK2 VTR, he loves it and so do I.

It's got a great sound, nice and loud when you give it the beans, but when you're cruising at motorway speeds it doesn't make your ears bleed.

I'd go for the back box and center pipe, as previously said, it has a slightly larger diamater than stock, and as far as I can remember, the center pipe on my mate's car made quite a big difference to the sound.

Cheers. Although im now tempted by this sniper one. Price is good, but worried that there maybe a reason why its so cheap. You got any video of your sportex?

sportex makes your ears bleed when your going at 3 or 300mph. Annoyingly loud when doing motorway miles.

Im into that. Im pretty much a chav when it comes to exhuast sounds.
I have my music loud enough. Plus loud music kills the rattles and general bad build quality of a citroen. So the exhaust should help too.

i agree, haha, too loud for me though

GT3 are mint. Ill post a video on this thread tomorrow of mine, RudPud's heard mine when i went to pick my springs up from him. My cat is under the car so the GT3 i got had a straight pipe, but i kept my cat in so i didn't use one bit of pipe but it has all the pipe work to go from the downpipe to the back, it's quite a deep soudn until you hti about 2.5k revs, then it's a beast. il get a vid up tomorrow
  33. #33
Now that exhaust was loud! lol. I thought mine on my 1.1 was. Karl, my mum, dad and neighbours werent happy with it ahaha.
  34. #34
Aha, at least it sounds decent as well?
  35. #35
Werent bad, heard worse, heard better , can imagine its pretty loud when cruising along at 70 tho?
  36. #36
    Fair enough lol.
Yeah pretty loud, not overly annoying though.

No - had a sportex fitted a couple of days a go on my VTS and it went straight on using the original olive clamp.
