I know this might sound silly but now I have rebuilt my engine do I need to put some oil in it even though its not in the car yet, it will be a few months yet before its put in

#2aslong as there is a coating of oil on all the bearing surfaces and bores cam lobes ect i would say it will be fine without oil, just mind put oil in it before you use it.

#3did you use assembly oil when building the engine mate if so then you should be ok . If not then give it a good dose of oil just to stop moisture getting into bearings and bearing surfaces.
also if its not going in the car for a couple of months try to keep it somewhere the temperature is constant to prevent condensation build up inside it. -
