You will need to get a VTR loom and ECU.
I managed to get a Mk2 VTR engine complete with loom and ecu on 35k miles for 120 quid off ebay a year or so ago. Plenty of them kicking about.
Then you'll need to get the ECU unlocked, and away you go.
Just make sure you tell the DVLA and your insurance company

Also... are you sure it just bolts in to the mounts?
IIRC the 1.1 drivers side engine mount is different. Like 3 bolts instead of 4? I think the 1.1 mount is a pressed steel thing, but the VTR one is a cast one. Might have to do some fabrication.
    I dunno though!

considering the price i just got a vtr engine today delivered for 130 and the included everything but exhaust manifold

Thanks for your help any idea where i could get the ecu unlocked or another way around it and i thought the engines were a straight swap how sure are you about the mounts mate?

I got an ECU unlocked from a place called BlueHawk Electronics. Have a google

Not too sure on the mount actually, you'll probably be fine with the standard one. I think the VTR and 1.1 are interchangeable at the engine side of things, but the vtr one will be stronger. You wont be able to fit a VTR mount into the 1.1 without work though. If that makes sense.

    Here's a 1.1 mount:

    And a VTR mount:

vtr engine looms dont plug straight into 106's, you need to get then re plgugged/spliced to the chassis

    ooh that'd be an issue!

With regards to the ecu... in theory you can just take the little immobiliser transponder chip out of the key, and replace it with the one from the donor vehicles key. In theory.

ok guys thank you very much for your help il keep ya posted

That's a very good point about the looms not matching.
You'll have to splice your original loom with the VTR one to make it fit.
How confident are you with electrics?

if not getting unlocked ecu.... youd need chip key, imob box, and pick up ring from ign barrell plus ecu too match them, but some still have issues if they dont get the loom aswell for some reason, much esier to just get an unlocked ecu

but still.... saxo looms dont plug and play to 106 chassis, but if youve got a 3 plug car you could just use the 1.1 loom on the vtr engine with vtr unlocked ecu
