Complicated R problem

    It's basically a follow on from this thread;
    http://www.saxperience.com/forum/sho...d.php?t=370119

Myself and a couple of helpful saxp members have been trying to figure out why my car doesn't work, it doesn't even try .. when i turn the key fully it'll only make a single click sound.
And my fuel pump doesn't prime either.
All my dash is off checked all the loom that seems fine,
Checked the earth that seems fine.
Even the circuits to the fuel pump seem fine.
    What could be the problem?

By the way we don't think the engine has seized because its still compressing when we tried to bump It.

Any help would be extremely appreciated.
    Cheers.

    Nothing atall?

Have you checked all the fuses, connection in the fuse holders and boxes?

If the dash is dead, then there is no power. So its electircal fault not mechanical.
Id take every fuse out and inspect all terminals and contact points.
And same for all live and neg points too, between battery, grounds and fuses.

You will have a live from battery to a fuse box, should have the MAIN fuse, check that, and replace. As this is key, if that shorts, breaks, or has a crap connection then no power will leave the battery.

    Checked all that mate,
All electrics are fine as far as we know, we checked all fuses, all wiring, engine loom plug.
Everythings fine apart from the fuel pump not priming and the single click sound on attempt turn over.

have you checked your battery isn't dead?

The main fuse box is by the fuel shut off valve in the bonnet, got 4 big fuses in,check them.

    Yep checked all them,
    Battery is also fine.

Ignition barrell faulty? Has been known before with them.
  7. #7
the relay under the ecu maybe?

    Checked ..

If everything is dead, then it's only a handfull of things it could be.

I'd do this in this order.

check battery terminal for secure contact
    Check main fuse box fuses
get a voltmeter and check voltage of battery.
Use a continuity tester and check voltage if any at the 3 main plugs at the ignition barrel.

see what you come up with that.

Checked all that mate, with a voltmeter.
We're going to change the loom see if that works ..

iirc theres a 12v feed to the engine loom that attaches to the starter. Might go to the alternator but i never traced it really - it had only broken off and cut all power to everything

failing that, If the battery is all properly connected, with negative to the engine and body, and positive to the starter and small fuse box, then perhaps there is a short somewhere which is leading all electricity to find the path of least resistance. Like i've hooked jump leads up before and then accidentally touched them together, cuts all power to everything in the whole car. Would happen if one of the 12v wires from the battery were touching earth somewhere

I have power to everything mate just not the fuel pump, well as far as i know anyway.

Hopefully there's a problem with my loom somewhere and get it changed.

    Fucked ecu?

How would it be the ECU?
It's been unlocked and its fine.
Does anyone reckon it might be mechanical like the fuel pump might be nackered?

Its actually the ecu that grounds out the fuel pump relay.

Relay is fine and so is the ECU though,
I put my ECU in my Mk2 S and worked fine.
