Important! : Adjusting Brake Bias Valve?? SPRING TOTALLY SLACK..?

  1. #1
Right have been driving the car hard lately and been having a few brown moments on the brakes. Basically hard on the brakes the arse end locks up and steps out. Not fun tbh. I have read Toads thread on the bias valve but there is no pictures of what i need to adjust to stop this.

If anyone can tell me how to adjust the valve & supply pictures of where it is etc it eould be wonderful! I have a vague idea but dont want to go messing with the wrong thing!

    Cheers Boys & Girls

I will get pictures tomoro of it but it is on the passenger side on top of the beam, you will see a 'bolt type object' and a spring so just adjust it then try you're brakesit may be seized and you will need a new one which means the axle needs to be dropped out getfuckingthrottlebodies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

right this scares me big time....Just been under there, and had a look at the spring, and its totally slack and it can move backwards & forwards a good 5mm... so there is no tension in it what so ever. Can anyone advise me what to do? does it need tightening or is it fucked?

would that not give the rear more braking force? Why not get a cheap set of 266mm brakes for the front to give the front more power?

Just fitted brembo max discs and greenstuff pads to the front...its the back left. As i said the pads need doing anyway, but i am hoping if the pistons get pushed back, then there is maybe tension put back into the spring so i can adjust it. I am wishing big time here...

you thought about just forking out for some interior braking lines and wilwood bias valve behind the hand brake? I spoke to swampy about it for my car and iirc it is 250ish including the bias valve

sorry it is 165 without the bias valve.. I asked him for a price for a few bits. I reckon you could have it done for less than 200 tbh

There rubbish these brake compensator's on mine i have adjusted it loads and makes no difference probably broken. However it never locks up the back before the front. I have sheared a bolt that the spring hooks round so have just cable tied it on for now. will it fail an mot if the valve thing inst working properly or if its cable tied like mine is?

I'd fit a new valve, theres someone selling a new one. Dont forget to invest in new brake lines up the back though, its doubtful they'll come out of the valve

Cool bump. I sold this car 18 months ago...
