Saxo VTR tuned

Just purely out of curiosity after doing a lot of searching and reading up and seeing varied opinions on BHP/TORQUE expectancy and the obvious comment of just stick a VTS lump in, Has anyone actually got a VTR that's got a ported and polished head, camed, induction kit, 4-2-1 manifold, proper rolling road remap not just chip crap etc etc. Who can tell me what the drive is like? throttle response etc, whats it compared to a standard vts? Or even 1 better someone who's had everything lightened and balanced as well so she revs up nice? just generally interested so give everyone a chance to put the facts straight.

hi mate, ive got a semi-stripped vtr. spec as follows (early phase 2 90bhp)

    newman ph3 camshaft
    baker bm pulley
    raceland 4/2/1 (heatwrapped)
    de-silenced/de-cat center section
    powerflow 3' backbox
    cda/bmc cold air induction kit
    fast road clutch
    lightened flywheel
    quickshift.

    sounds lovely at 4/5k

    0-60's timed between 6.9 & 7.3 phone timer by a friend

(106 rallye inlet manifold - not fitted going on this week before remap)

haven't got a clue what power its pushing atm but i will update after R/R.

still dusts by mates standard 106 GTI though

Very nice, I'm enquiring as I'm thinking of doing something similar myself, if you don't mind me asking how much did all that set u back? I'm just interested in doing sumat other than a VTS swap (had a VTS before). What's the torque like does it pull well in the lower gears?

many vtr's can get to 200+ with boost but itb'd 8 valves can push 160 with some nice torqe too

Don't really fancy the boost route, more interested in N/A power, bodies is an interesting idea aswel mite look into that aswel. You'll have to post your r/r results when you get it done. Are you planning on any head work?

Even with the mods you mentioned, I would still expect a standardish VTS/GTI to pull away above about 4k.

If you want VTS/GTI power (and speed) and more you are looking at boddies upwards in my opinion
