bores need draining full of oil

I have just bought a crashed car for spares. It had been rolled and sat on its roof for 48hrs. The bores are now full of oil. I have removed plugs and turned engine over. It spat a lot of oil out but still is flooded. Must i remove the head to drain it or will it drain away over a few days?

    Cheers

as above, what will drain off should have drained after about 24 hours, whatevers left could be sucked out, after youve sucked as much out as possible....top up the oil to right level, then pour a bit petrol/diesel into each bore and turn it over with plugs out, this should water the remainder down a bit and blow it out the plug holes, then it should start and burn of any residue

When it crashed, how long was the engine running before it was switched off?

Personally, i would take off the exhaust manifold so no oil gets down there and damages your cat, also oil inside the exhaust will last for ages till it burns off.

Rotate the engine by hand, some oil will come out of the exhaust ports, then use some petrol to get the rest out.

You don't need to be that specific getting it all out, it wont hurt to start the car without the exhaust manifold once you've flushed out as much as possible and left hardly any fuel in.

wouldnt expect very long, fuel pickup would have been dry

Inertia fuel cut off would have stopped the engine too

No it was still going. It ran for about ten seconds
