VTR - VTR Conversion?

  1. #1
Hi, I'm new to Saxperience, i came hear for some help, I currently have a Saxo 1.6 VTR 2001, its done 110,000 miles.

I was thinking of putting a newer engine and transmission in (i.e 30,000 miles

When i decide to sell it, will it be worth more?, and does the insurance go up even if its the same engine?

+ Whats the situation with the mileage gage? does it stay at 110,000 miles?

    Any Help

    THANKS!!!

It maybe worth more due to the fact less millage, And the insurance shouldnt go up as its the same engine, and yes it will stay at 110,000 because the millage is stored on the dials it self so that will have to be changed.

Insurance shouldn't increase if it is the same engine, as it would be classed as a repair or replacement part, rather than a modification.

You probably would get a little more for it with fewer miles on the engine, however the buyer would want to feel comfortable that the engine swap was done well. Get it done professionally, and you should be ok.

But having said that, changing an engine is a lot of work, and can be expensive. You might find the added value to the car will be less than the cost of the work, rendering your idea a bit pointless...

You Would ideally want receipts etc to prove the engines mileage , just remember to tell them the mileage on the shell

it wont increase insurance, and it wont increase value(the car will still have 110+ on it), itll give you a better point of sale then you had previousley, provided you can show proof its been done, take pics of mielage onb car and engine in/out, with you name and date on, this is a help for high miler's

by the way, if you do this, get an engine with the same plug ecu, will be easier to plug in

    Pointless tbh mate.

A saxo with that much mileage isn't worth much anyway. Your best bet is to run it till it dies.

not necessarily, my 03 vt has 94k on, i consider it to be a fair car for the age and mileage, im fitting a new engine soon as the loom comes back, if its a decent base you want to keep a while it could be worth it

just be aware at mileage like that if other stuff hasnt been replaced its gonna start to fail also, in my case the car has been fully rebuilt, new wishbones, lower mileage fully rebuilt struts, brand new shocks/dampers, another beam...and just fitted a re-con one as that went after 2k lol, new discs and pads etc- so mileage is just a number onthe shell for me

gotta see its worth it before you make decisions

why not keep the engine until it actually fucks up? whose to say the new engine might be kaput? you might be surprised how long your engine lasts?
