Do all 8v 4-2-1 manifolds fit all 8v Saxo's and 106's?

  1. #1
Basically I've been offered a Raceland 4-2-1 manifold for £50, but the guy is saying it's off of a Peugeot 106 1.1 8v, my question (although it's probably a really stupid question) is will it fit all 8v engines, including the VTR?
    Thanks in advance!

    ..........yes...........

the dots were just because it was too short haha, only thing to consider is if yours has 1 lambda sensor and the manifold has two you need to buy a lambda sensor plug, if yours has 2 and it has 1 you need a lambda sleeve

Haha thanks, I'll ask how many lambda holes it has
Would I be correct in saying that the early MK2 VTR's with the single plug ECU and cat underneath the car have just the 1 lambda sensor?

think so yes but don't quote me on that, never had a vtr myself

Ok well thanks for all your help

just take a look underneath, you have one in your manifold which you can see under the bay, if you cant find another on the manifold or underneath you only have one
  9. #9
Early vtrs have one lamba sensor yes. IE none in the top of the manifold. Not all manifolds fit all 8 valves. Depends on years etc. Cant help you with whether yours does though.

plus - will it need the oil filter change if its not meant for a mk2? just something you will need to check

Ahh crap, thought I was in for a steal for a manifold

Mine's an early spec MK2 so doesn't need oil filter relocating as it's already out of the way of the manifold.

    Hmm, just found this...

    Stainless steel header CITROêN SAXO 8V - MK1 - 10 % power increase - fits also the PEUGEOT 106
Does this mean that it will fit my VTR then providing it has just the 1 lambda sensor slot?

the parts will fit but with that manifold you will have issues with the oil filter. You have a remote style filter and you will need to convert the car to a mk1 setup.
Theres a how to guide but you are looking at another £30 on top of the manifold.

My oil filter is already a MK1 setup, it's an early spec MK2 so the oil filter is a screw into the block one.

    Thanks though

Logically id say no. As yours is a mk 2 and its designed for mk1. Get somone else to veryfy though as you may be able to due to yours being the early mk2 engine. If you are looking to spend 180 euros...what stopping you from buying a mk2 maifold?

Yeah but IIRC it's the same setup as MK1's, as they also have the cat converters underneath the car.
I'm not spending 180 Euros, the original post says that a mate is offering me a 106 one for £50.

I'm not leaning towards buying a MK2 one because MK2's after late 2000 came with the cat in the manifold, and thus have 2 lambda sensors, meaning a MK2 manifold will have 2 holes, whereas I'd only be able to plug my single lambda sensor in the manifold - and the MK1 manifolds come with just the 1 hole for the 1 sensor.

Does that explain a little better what I'm trying to get at?

So basically if your Mk2 VTR has the Mk1 engine and exhaust then of course a Mk1 manifold will fit. The Mk1 engines are defined by a black rocker cover, single plug ecu, and oil filter location, I'm assuming you already now. So from what it sounds it should fit fine.

What's stopping you from trying it out then paying him if it fits?

That's the thing, my VTR has a silver top.
It has the single plug ECU, cat underneath the car and has the oil filter relocated already done from standard, it just has a silver top.

    Here's a MK1 VTR engine:

And here's an early MK2 VTR engine:

Because I'm not really wanting to be going through all that effort if it doesn't fit, I was hoping someone on here may have come across the same situation and would help me out

Plus at £50 for a near-new manifold, he has other interest and is in need of the cash a.s.a.p. really.

It will fit fine mate. People are getting confused because you said Mk2 but your engine is a Mk1 effectively.
  20. #20
    It'll fit, no problem

All 8V's are the same fitment.

Yeah I could tell haha, people can't seem to grasp that there's 3 engine types

    Thanks for clearing that up

Will definitely chuck him an offer then!

It does not matter what the head is. Its quite simple really once you have all the information like what engine you have.
If you have a cat under the car and a screw in filter direct onto the block get a mk1 manifold.
If you have a cat infront of the engine, then either a mk2 manifold or piss about converting to a mk1 oil filter setup.

With your engine Citroen simply used up their mk1 blocks..

That's what I have, and that's all I wanted to know
    Thank you
