It's only on engines that were prdocued during 1999-2000 VTS's, so the crossover year car's

(I'm sure someone will correct me if i'm wrong)

I've got a 2 prong engine in my car and a 2 prong engine sitting in my garage

Yeh they do feel like they have a lot of spirit in them as my old 2 prong engine used to keep up with 182's/ 172's etc with just BMC and Supersprint 4-2-1 manifold

Ball ache, so would 2 prong head bolt onto a newer block etc or is there anythin that can be done to a later head to improve things, removal of egr etc!?

    Cheers

LOL, two prong head refers to the engines that have the air pump fitted, its the mounts thats it fitted to. So all mk2 engines have them.

I don't know if they any better or not, doubt it's better due to two metal brackets sticking out the head.

They flow better, but surely it doesn't warrant swapping heads. Removing the fresh air pump does bugger all bar shedding a little bit of weight.

If you're going to that length, you might as well fit a TU5JP4 head and take advantage of the larger valves.

They are the newer head, if you remove your 'egr' valve, its that mount they refer to as two prong LOLz.

The 'two prong' head refers to engines which have those two mounting prongs, but don't have the fresh air pump setup - i.e. those made in 1999 - 2000, IIRC.

The fresh air pump wasn't fitted until 2001 and onwards - the heads on these engines don't flow as well, apparently.

bah, any difference is neglible. Best bet is fitting the TU5JP4 like you said.

I've never driven a car with a 'two prong', but I seem to remember they make better results after mapping at Chipwizards than 2001+ VTS', suppose that could be down to the single plug ECU though?

Mine is a 2001+ and I certainly don't loose any sleep over being a few horses down.

Well, I used to own a 2001+ vts with the air pump thingy, 3 plug ecu, now got a twin prong vts engine in me black car with single plug ecu etc, so will be interesting to see if there a difference on the road, when it gets back on the road lol.

There's always been the myth of the 2 prong special heads. N it is true.
they flow 6% better than the other heads as Matt @ QEP (now Matt @ Cat Cams UK) flow tested them
