Locking Wheel Nut Removal

  1. #1
Hello people im in need of a little help, one of my locking wheel nuts is jammed in so tight that it has knackered the teeth things up inside the tool so i now can't remove any of the other locking wheel nuts. Was thinking of knocking a slightly smaller socket over the locking nut and seeing if that bites or buying one of them removal sockets from halfords thats got a reverse thread inside. Basically question is will these methods work with my type of locking nut i have as its round?

    Cheers.

smash a smaller socket mate thats what i had to do with mine
  3. #3
will that work with my type of nut then? use a multi spline type one ye?
  4. #4
ye it shud work mate, like i sed i had the same problem, got 3 off but the last nut had to have a nut welded on n tuk of that way, try the socket frst tho, muli spline will grip better, if that fails take it to a local garage, they shd only charge bopu a fiver

hammer and chissel will get it off, or use a smaller socket. if you can get hold of a "turbo" socket, or a lugnut socket remover, then do that. hammer on, breaker bar to get it off, buzz buzz!

i will give the socket method a try

if you don't get it off mate just take it to a garage.

Should be able to hammer a 12 sided 19mm socket over it, 6 sided socket probably wont go on.

used a 12 sided 17mm socket hammered on to get mine off end of last week
  17. #17
right got 3 out but one of the little f***ers not budge! lol...the 19mm socket just keeps spinning round the lock nut, thinking about trying an 18mm on it?

does the key still fit in the locking nut?

ended up taking mine to dexel, had them of in minutes.

i thought my key was fucked as it kept slipping out, but they used it with an air gun thing(cant think of the name lol) and they came straight of.

this one is in stupidly solid mate...its like its been welded! lol

Weld a nut onto it and get a breaker bar and a big bloke to turn it
  21. #21
since your nuts are quite visible nd easy to reach get a pai of stilson plyers and it should turn it

managed to get them of last week took car to dexel, whipped them of with the air gun and my locking key, managed to just grip it enough, did it for free.
