    Hi im new

Glad there is forums out here ...

    I have a W reg 1.1 saxo .

to start the car when i turn the key i have to keep pressing the accelerator else it drops below 1000 and stalls so have to keep foot on pedal over 2500 for about 15 seconds or it cuts out and also when driving along every so often it kangaroos so i dip the clutch to stop it and then it starts revving it self up and down from 1000 to 3000 like some one keeps pressing the peddle up and down . it just does it on its own without being touched

Hope some one can help me

    thank u

carb cleaner, its what allows a certain amount of airflow to keep the engine ticking over, if its clogged its causes bad tickover

Would that get rid off the engine revving itself up and down when your driving along it just revving up and down

Yeah the idle control valve controls exactly that, the idle of the engine.

If your revs are going up and down then it's likely the valve is sticking which causes the throttle to open and close intermittently.

Remove the rubber bit connecting the airbox to the throttle body, remove the throttle body (three bolts) and the unscrew the ICV.
Give it a really good clean with carb cleaner or WD40 and put it all back together again

There is a guide somewhere on here

yeah i'd say its that too my vtr used to rev itself up, was totally embarressing sitting and traffic lights and the car deciding to go VROOOOOOOM making me look a right twat!

i too am having this problem. near all the times i go driving, the car accelerates (even when slowing down) for a second and decelerates on it own. Also at traffic lights it goes to stall then decides to rev itself up to 2k then idles normal.

things i have done to try and solve the problem:

    1. Serviced (fuel filter, oil filter, spark plugs and oil)
    2. Cleaned ICV with carb spray.
    3. Changed TPS (Throttle position sensor).
    3. Plugged up hole in the exhaust.
    4. Replaced after-market air filter back to Stock.
    5. Used redx (or whatever its called)
    6. Reset ECU (Disconnected battery over night)

so im only now thinking it can only be the lambda sensor or the coolant temp sensor or even the fuel pump??

There is one strange thing though, after the service, the car didnt play up for 4 days. Then i spoke too soon

any of u guys have any suggestions? i will try and make a youtube vid of it over the weekend.

    thanks

Try a different ICV if possible? Or buy a new one.

Also to reset the ICV.. turn ignition to number 3 / the 1 before it starts, then back to number 2, 7 times.. so 3-2-3-2-3-2-3-2-3-2-3-2-3-2-START. Honestly it works..

Is the engine management light on?
