3 plug to single plug?

#2i have just put a single vtr engine into my 3 plug furio and it runs you just got to get a crossover loom
-
#3ohhhh cheers mate where can i get one from?
-
#4i dont know mate they normally on 2000 w-reg saxos i think
mite be someone on here with one
or keep checking ebay for one and all the ones that are bein broken -
#5where you get yours from mate and how much you pay?
-
#6i was looking for one for months and nothing so i just mailed everyone on ebay that was breaking a saxo to find a 2000 vtr and came across one after two weeks of emails and payed £35 posted for it
-
#7do all w reg saxo have them? do you have to have that instead of normal loom?
-
#8i imagine your car is a 3 plug ecu and the large round plug behind the headlight
if so then same as mine
i bought two looms off this site saying that it was the one i needed when it arrives it wasnt the one i needed so i have two looms sat here from a mk1 engine
so i would say ask for pictures before you buy tahts what i have learned anyway -
#9have you got a pic of the one i need mate?
-
#10I run a Mk1 vts single plug engine & ECU in my Mk2 (originally a 3 plug 1.1)
I just spliced the Engine loom, the only real issue is at the loom connector plug, single plug engines have a smaller loom plug were as 3 plugs use the larger type. You just basically need to mate the wires up and put a large conector onto the Mk1 loom in simple terms1 user thanked this post: -
#11one sec i will have a look
-
#12if you are really handy with wires then yes simple as that but you have a couple of same wires and no one on here could help me witha pin out to splice the looms myself and its alot easier to just buy a loom that fitsQuote:I run a Mk1 vts single plug engine & ECU in my Mk2 (originally a 3 plug 1.1)

#13Yea your right there like, i wasnt aware that the crossover looms actually had the larger connector on with a single plug ecu, plus i did have all the wiring diagrams etc and we do it quite regulally at work.
-
#14would you say its easier to splice the wires or get a cross over?
-
#15these are the difference in the interior loom plug
you will have the one on the top i think

and you can easily tell difference between single and 3 plug ecu -
#18if i am having the single plug ecu and loom cant i just take my ecu out and put the single one in?
-
#20becuase i am buying an engine that involved the single plug ecu and loom so cant i just put the single plug ecu in place of my 3 plug one?1 user thanked this post:
-
#21if you mean one the loom thats already in the car naw then no it wont fit on
-
#22No your loom is a 3 plug loom so wont connect to the single plug ecuQuote:becuase i am buying an engine that involved the single plug ecu and loom so cant i just put the single plug ecu in place of my 3 plug one?
Edit: im guessing it will be for the wrong engine too.
Is it a 16v your putting in? -
#23no i am having the single plug ecu and single plug loom basically the sale involves the loom and ecu so cant i take my loom and ecu out and put the single plug ecu and loom in so swap it?
-
#24Theres some confusion somewere.Quote:no i am having the single plug ecu and single plug loom basically the sale involves the loom and ecu so cant i take my loom and ecu out and put the single plug ecu and loom in so swap it?
Right youve got a 3 plug car, if your getting a single plug engine/ecu/loom you need to use:
Engine
Ecu
Loom
However the single plug loom wont fit to the interior loom in your car (unless its a crossover as stated) There for you need a crossover loom or you need to splice the single plug loom -
#25oryt yeah you can do that but its the plug behind the headlight you will have problems with you can get two plugs a big one a small one the pic i put up before so you woud have to splice the looms or get one with the big interior plug and single plug ecu
-
#26basically i am having everything out of a gti so wont it come with an interior loom?Quote:Theres some confusion somewere.

#27it will but the wrong size one on it due to being older
what year is it coming out of -
#29imnot gonna fit it im going to get someone to do it for me
hopefully it all goes well thanks guys
