Hi guys im getting a huge pay cheque this month and wanna spend some of it on my car. Ive got a furio so was going to buy piper cams ive found them on the piper site for £190 excluding vat but happy to pay the price i just need someone to fit and map it for me. Can anyone help me out at all in the midlands area, or are they easy to fit yourself and just take it to be mapped?

i e-mailed atspeed racing for a quote on fitting cams to a VTR + the remap but they never got back to me......but people seem to favour them for engine work

theres no point in tuning a 1.4 engine. for less than £100 you can get a good vtr engine with 98bhp as standard. or for like £250-300 a vts engine with 120bhp. piling hundreds into camming a 1.4 is pointless when it will probably be like the same speed as a vtr if not a bit faster

I wouldnt waste the money on a 1.4 engine as said above. Unless it was for some certain racing group / regulations.

If your getting a "huge" paycheck then just drop a VTS engine in.

If your getting a "huge" pay check, why not just buy a vtr/vts?

I say huge its more than normal lol i cud buy a vtr engine i guess lol for like £100 but wat else would i need ive just had a new cambelt and clutch so would they need changing over or is it literally a straight swap over? i just wanna get more power out of my car tbh. i was thinking of camming it due to insurance but tbh i can insure a vtr for less money than tuning my 1.4 so probs just do that. How much would people charge for fitting the engine then?

cost of getting all that done you just aswell get vts lump, 4branch and zorst system

save yourslef the effort and hassle sell up and buy a vtr atleast then you got all the extras, rear discs, bigger rad, different clocks etc etc

from what I've read, you can even use the same ecu.. saves unlocking the VTR ecu. So just get an engine and box from the bay and use and after market air filter and exhaust if you can afford it.. I am not sure whether the engine mounts will need to be changed/added but I can't imagine they would cost the earth.

everyones stopping you from wasting your money. how much does camming cost? say £200 for an 8valve cam, upto £300 for mapping, £100 for fitting. after all that it will still be slower than a vts lol
just becuase you have the money, no need to waste it.
do it proper or wait till you can afford a vts, you'll only regret it otherwise

Fitting an 8v cam is a head off job, so budget for new headgasket, cambelt etc.

fair play to the lad if he wants to be different , a few people have cammed 1.4 combined with a 4-2-1 , de-cat back , enclosed induction , rallye inlet and got good figures for a 1400cc but like said if you want power cheap , get a vtr lump/vts lump or if you plan keeping the car and want to make it into a long term project and be different and have a fast 1.4 then you could save the extra money you dont need each month and then when your ready and have enough funds get a wild cam , rallye inlet , 4-2-1 combined with a de-cat back system , good enclosed induction , itbs/boddies , head work ect......
