Manifold Question

  1. #1
Got a furio and am about to purchase a 4 2 1 manifold to replace my standard one. Now just wondering how hard/easy this is to fit. Am relatively decent at figuring things out and good with fiddly bits. Sorry if this sounds stupid but am just checking everything out before i commit myself. I wana keep my cat too so i presume this can be kept even with an aftermarket manifold. thanks !

It can, but negates the point of the 4-2-1 as the cat is the most restrictive part of the exhaust system.

By installing a 4-2-1 all you are doing is speeding up the rate which the exhaust gasses get to the Cat, and therefore the cat needs to get more gas through quicker, which isnt going to happen.

What year is your Furio?? If the CAT is in the Manifold then installing an aftermarket manifold will remove the CAT. I think you can buy a manifold with a sports cat installed.

im gonna take a wild guess that the cat is NOT part of the manifold.

main thing to worry about is rounding off the nuts for the manifold. get yourself a gasket and maybe some new nuts just so its a fresh install. Also ensure that the manifold has the correct smount of lambda holes. im unsure but some have 2 some have 1 depending on model

i was wanting a 421 mani a few months back but decided not to as i didnt want too much noise my furio is a 2000 x reg and as its from the crossover years between mk1 and mk2 mines a mk2 but with a cat under the car (has been decatted also) but if you were to get one its not worth keeping the cat / getting a 421 with a built in sports cat as the gains will be very minimal compared to even the little gains 5-8bhp from a un-restricted 421
hope i have helped / provided you with some info thats decent

Isnt that the point of being an active member of a forum? And yes you may have seen my post in the suggestions area.

And as said above thanks for the warm welcome from a more experienced member of this forum
