  4. #4
don't forget your getting less petrol to a tenner now
  5. #5
    £10 is about 7.8 Litres.

Your doing around 45MPG. Very good.
  6. #6
I get around 24mpg in my cammed vts and thats driving normally
  7. #7
Mine does about 50-55 round town and for a tenner its about 7.3 litres Round here

Thats less than i get on bodies and deffo isnt right!
I do around 23 mpg average and that spends 5 minutes idling to warm up every day twice just wasting petrol tbh
  12. #12
That's 33mpg by my reckoning. Ok for urban use
  13. #13
    Not a bad MPG,

I know tell me about it. Any ideas on what it could be? Or is it a massive list of possibilities?

I do have an s1 box which doesn't help.
  15. #15
I get 70 to 75 mpg from a tenner in my 2001 posi blue vtr!, when i bought the car a month ago, i shoved 20quid in to get me back home and then i worked out it did amazing mileage to the gallon...around 180 miles before i put more fuel in!. So far ive done 600 in it and put 80 quid of fuel in so do the maths!, thats about 75 to the gallon!

    ive got an xsi haha
  17. #17
i usually get about 200miles to £30 in mine if i drive sensibly. thats of vpower so less mpg as it costs more
  18. #18
Driven carefully you could get about 60 miles to a tenner at 133p a litre
  19. #19
i get about 17miles to the gallon in the m3 so think yourself lucky
  20. #20
lol at 17 i can get mine down below that if im not being relaxed on the loud pedal lmao!

fuel guage can down down about as fast as the pedal hits the stop

But you have the luxury of driving a proper car, so it's not all bad.
  23. #23
I'm happy with mine. £45 got me 350 miles screwing around town.

My Audi s4 used to do 15mpg just chugging around town and 4 if you booted it

If you wanna know for sure, the '10 quid' '50 mile' approach isnt accurate. (well unless you did what im about to say) do the following:

Fill the tank, zero the miles.
Drive say, 100-200 miles then fill the tank again the same as before.
Write down the number of miles you did and the amount of petrol you put in in litres, and the cost per litre.

Go here and enter in the details, will work it all out for you .

Do it a few times for a good average.

If you want to know why im so sad, and why i actualy did this. I ran a business with the car as a bussiness car so had to keep receipts anyways, and tott down miles done on each fill just for records.

    I get 47miles to £20.

    Haha, yeh.

Everyone knows my VTR over fuels like a bitch.
Some days it'll be alright, 128 miles again last night to £20.

Like I said other days I'll fill up £20 3 or 4 times, getting 7-30ish miles to each refill.

People who know me know I don't drive fast either

I put it down to some sensors that are playing up, I do have a problem with the revs hanging at 4K if you rev it, but I think that's the Temp sensor again...

Who knows I'll have my new Engine in soon so I'm not fussed
  31. #31
Petrol is getting expensive, sounds about right tho
  32. #32
that is 31 mpg. so about average.

Ino, what are they moaning about lol It costs me the same amount to go to the train station and back twice what it did in my 307 for a whole week.

You get 17mpg and I bet thats when you're really cruising it taking it easy too couse I get 19/21MPG when im taking it easy. If im putting my foot down abit it goes to about 9/10MPG
  34. #34
I get about 350-380 miles to a tank which i thinks quite good but its only 1.4 and its not fast enough!!! LOL

I was wondering the same about a hour ago, i got 57 miles off £10, but.. that's running 4-2-1 de/cat manifold, supersprint 2" race system, raceland enclosed induction kit & green filter.

On average i get about 280/290 most out of a full tank .
  36. #36
i get arond 50 miles for a tenner ,years ago i used to get that in my xr4x4 wouldnt like to know what it would be now .10 quid doesnt get it off the red in my evo

driven normally a vtr and vts about 25mpg if you're lucky. purely town driving.
  42. #42
After reading this thread, i put a 10a in the tank and drove how i normally drive which includes a few pedal to the metal moments other than that 60 mph on duel carriageways and sticking to the limits elsewhere...

That got me 75 miles, which i was frankly amazed at!

you've got some issues there. I was getting over 40mpg in a turbo'd vts...

my big jap crap gets better mpg than 24 too!

lol, if you can't drive maybe....

thats the economy I'd expect from a 2.6l twin turbo!
  45. #45
im averaging 30mpg in mine now, so ye something is up
  46. #46
Cost me about £6.50 to do 50 mile on a 2000 reg mk2 vtr
    42mpg ish

You guys must drive like absolute pussies!

Where 40mpg is coming from i don't know!? Citroen themselves put the vtr and vts at around 25mpg for urban driving. Your calculations must be seriously out. I'd expect 15mpg as max for that engine size.

drive like pussies or drive properly?

i get 25mpg round town in my 200sx running over 300bhp and that involves a fair bit of 'black line painting'
my saxo gets 28mpg when driven around town with quite a lot of on boost fun

on a run my saxo does 44mpg and the s14 does 38mpg.

my calculations are definitely not out

adz said above he gets 30mpg and i'm pretty sure the saxo gets used mainly as a toy for him so if he's getting 30mpg and so am i and both of us have over double the power saxo than you do then it only points at either your car is in very poor health or you need to take a good look at your driving!

my friend gets 30mpg in a 650bhp 2.6l twin turbo gtr driving to work and back, round town he's still getting what your saxo gets! beginning to see a pattern here?
  49. #49
Can't see how you're getting mpg's on par with diesel engines. Must be something i'm missing here, but my sax has fsh and is deffo not in poor health.
  50. #50
well i am as are many other people, change your driving style and you'll see the same! i don't see how you could get 25mpg unless you are driving flat out everwhere!

On par with diesels? 1.9 tdi fabia can return 60-70 mpg. Sisters 1.6 diesel clio can get upto 94mpg average, although that was with some very boring driving i must admit.

I get 42 mpg and definatley dont drive 'like a pussy'. Even if i just do my comute to work (nice wide back roads on early mornings, dont have to drop below 85 if i wanted to) i can still return 38 mpg. Hell i got 40 mpg with one long journey at around 95-105 mph (Private race track, going in circles...)

Definatley somthing up with your calcs, as i go by what is used not 'i put ten quid in and the needle got to half a tank'
  52. #52
you boys should get a little 1.1 can get well over 60 mpg in the town not so great on motorways tho

Normally get about 120ish miles from £20 of fuel and I only really boot it on the dual.
  55. #55
Drove 500 miles on about £70 with of petrol. I was very happy with the return!
  56. #56
i drove like a semi cunt... i got 55 miles to 50 quid.

without being picky and this is off the top of my head, i'm 99% sure its 4.54 litres per gallon.
  59. #59
remember the old days when i would get 330 miles on £30 petrol in my VTR! (2006-2007)

Some of the figures are crazy on this thread, i'd say around 50 miles on £10 is average to expect from a VTR with slight mods..

My civic type r is lucky to touch 40 miles for £10..
  60. #60
I have just got a cammed Vts and I can deffo tell the difference big time to my vtr... Sure it's less than 40 miles to a £10
  61. #61
    That sounds about right
  62. #62
People who are saying that 60+ mpg in a 1.1 around town are being slightly optimistic. I drive mine with as little right foot as I can, and return between 65 and 75 miles per £10. Equates to something around the 40-45 mpg mark, which is about what Citroen themselves say anyway.
  63. #63
    I get anything frm 45-55miles per 10£
  64. #64
what sort of millage am i suppose to be getting from my s lump, i do notice if i start taking it above 3-4000 rpm my petrol tank starts to get raiped, so rarely do this.
    cheers

i wasnt being exact but i wont be far off being a student im pretty decent at economical driving, boring as hell like driving like a granny tho
