Engine wants to die after revving

  1. #1
I have a new back box today because my other one was rusted to f***.
I got home and gave it a rev, Revved it to about 4-5k then took my foot off the accelerator, The revvs dipped down below 1k and car shook, Then it recovered,
Nothing is wrong with idling, I can turn the car on stick it in neutral and it stays at just over 1k.

    Any ideas?
    Could get video if needed.

    Cheers.

I have checked and no leaks...

Hmm, If i start the car after it's been off for about 15mins i can rev it and then it idles around the 1k mark, After a drive then stop and rev it it then dips down to between 0 revs and 500revs. This is wierd, anyone have any ideas..

You could try resetting the ECU by disconnecting the battery for around 30 mins.

Otherwise, I'd definately say that it isn't really something to worry about - just a characteristic! You get used to it with a Saxo!

It could just be that the old box had much more back pressure so the revs dropped more slowly and the idle control valve had time to do its thing
