Dieel gearbox on mk2 vts

  1. #1
    Hi guys

Was wondering if anyone has tried putting a diesel gearbox on a saxo vts and what the differences were? Also do you think it is worth putting one on?

    Any advice appreciated

    Thanks

No. Avoid. Far too long for the vts. The gear ratios on the vts are like that for a reason - they're the best match for the car. If you want more acceleration (at the sacrifice of top speed) then look for a 1.1 or (ideally) rallye box.

1.1 is near same as vts box just weaker if thats possible

It's not weaker at all. They're simply different ratios.

    Smaller diffs = weaker box

Agreed, the non-sports boxes have smaller diffs (68mm vs 73mm rings a bell off the top of my head)

if you try and fit a non-sport passenger shaft to a sport box you'll see that they don't sit inside the diff enough and the box will slowly drip fluid out.

Didnt know you were including the diff as part of your equation If your loolong for a stronger box that's a different kettle of fish eh

ahhhhh .....so that could be why my box is dripping intermittently, find i very odd its only started doing this since i put the new engine in... and couldnt get the pas shaft in properly on re fitting! seems like its slightly too short!

Same as if you put a vtr/s shaft into a 1.1 box, have fun getting it out when you swap the box :-)
