Important! : Help fitting K&N Please?

  1. #1
Hi, ive just bought a K & N off McWaffle. Its arrived this morning, but doesnt look like it fits correctly?

When ive took the original air filter off, its left 2 pipes doing nothing, which imo cant be right? Do i need extra fittings to blank them off?

Also, there is a metal bracket to connect the K&N to something, but its pointing at nothing?

Any help would be appreciated, im a total noob at repairs etc, but last time i fitted a K&N it was straight forward.

Heres some pics to show what i mean?

you want to get a breather put on that oil pipe mate
  3. #3
Argh, so it wasnt direct replacement? I was told i wouldnt need any extra's to go with it on a MK2 vtr?

Which one is the oil pipe, the one from the engine?

    Thanks
  4. #4
like that (not the same engine)

  5. #5
So what happens with the other pipe thats left hanging? And what keeps the filter sturdy?
  6. #6
Anyone know where i can get these breather pipes from??

Might just see McWaffle to see if i can get a refund, put it towards a new one?
  7. #7
All you need is a breather filter from ebay - about £3 to buy then put it on the end of the breather pipe.

Ive kinda searched eBay, but brings no results for 'Saxo VTR Breather Pipes' etc?

And would i need 2 of these, as there is 2 pipes lying around doing nothing?

I read somewhere that if you put a breather filter on the pipe at the back, it makes your car not tick over properly?

    Thanks

Found them on eBay, but not sure what size's i need FFS! Argh!
  10. #10
dude, just pull the pipe off and put the filter on the hole. J bit.
  11. #11
But even if i was to get an Oil Breather for the bcak pipe, that pipe from the head would be loose???

  13. #13
JohnG that pic is a winnar!

But yes, just fit a small breather, nothing to worry about bud
  14. #14
John, are you saying i should split that piping with a stanley knife or such? The end of that pipe wouldnt allow for a filter on the end, so it would need cutting?

    Thanks
  15. #15
id just cut it off and glue it on, up to you though lol.

sure you can get a some proper pipe or something for it.
  16. #16
Damn, if i cut it off, i wont be able to go standard if i wanna take it off?

I want a better induction kit in time...
  17. #17

My old 106 but thats what it should look like when done
I kept the air intake there for the craic
  18. #18
Ahh, so the pipe coming off the engine head, the breather filter will just pop straight on without any cutting etc?

You noticed any oil leaking from the other pipe?

    Thanks
  19. #19
ye just pop breather on both of them that what ive done check out my induction kit tho mine had a fitting for teh oil pipe but its no big deal just means you will need 3 breathers not 2 ... http://www.saxperience.com/forum/sho...d.php?t=383847
    hope this helps :-)

Yeah Chris, but the pipe on the head hasnt got a round end, its got a kinda clip-end, which attaches over the Airbox?
  21. #21
cut it off right to the T piece coming out the rocker then attach a 15mm breather filter to the T piece
  22. #22
And is the oil pipe 15mm or not? What dimensions do i look for? Outside to outside, or inside?

    Thanks
  23. #23
Is This the part i would need 2 of???

    Thanks
  24. #24
  25. #25
unclip the (green section) and keep in case you need to go back to standard and take the induction off ad a breather direct were the blue circle is after removing the green section then breathes on both red areas and bam done hope this helps
  26. #26
Helps a lot dude, so your saying i need 3 breather filters.

    Thanks Chris
  27. #27
Yeah id use 3 with this kit only used 2 on mine but i had a place on the kit for the rocker to link to the induction which you dont have on this kit so 3 breathers and your sorted if you need any more help message me Ebay is chepest or .. halfords do them for £9.99 for the ones i have of they do do pipercross but ther £19.99 depends on you budget tho the £9.99 have been fine for me plus i Know the halfords ones fit just need a "hose connector "for left hand red circle which is about £2 for a pack of 2 other 2 breather just slip on and tighten with a jubilee clip hope this helps
  28. #28
Thanks mate, seems like a lot of work compared to last time i fitted one, even though that was on a mk2 W reg vtr, cant remember having to do anything with breather filters etc?

    Thanks though
  29. #29
Get a 206 pipe from the scrappy and then you only need to buy one breather like i did on mine. I'm sure you could get that k&n to fit like i did with my pipercross.

  30. #30
So are you saying the whole pipe that is highlighted red is from a 206, and already has the connector for the pipe highlighted green???

Thanks pal, will look into that if thats right?
  31. #31
Yes the pipe highlighted in red is from a 206 and it has the breather connection already
  32. #32
Cheers mate, do you know what model 206, or is it the same for all 206's?

    Thanks

I'm not sure tbh mate, i'd imagine they are all the same, best thing to do would be to print that picture off and take it with you and find one thats the same.

Think this is it quite expensive though probably cheaper from a scrapyard.

    Those pipes don't need anything.

Put a filter on your IVC pipe.

And one on your Rocker Cover Pipe.
