oil coming out of oil breather

   hello there
   
   i put a small oil breather on my vtr a few months a go due to getting a new air filter and seems to being spueing oil on my engine , whats going on here ??? do i need a new one ?

   yea but theres oil over my engine bay , air filter ect ? could the oil filter be blocked ? chris

   Thats what the oil breather does.

   needs cleaning, i would'nt use an oil breather there rubbish better to get a stainless pipe that has the nipple for the oil breather to go on to no leaks then

   could be pistion rings on the way out. are you having to top the the oil more often than normal?

   everyone used to say that to me when i had my polo, the piston rings were fine though, just cleaned the filter and then all was good

   no from what i can see its not using any oil , havnt topped it up in the 6 months i put the oil filter on ! how do i clean to filter ?

   If you removed the rocker cover for what ever reason did you notice if the metal panel was underneath? Thats most likely the problem if its not there.
   
   Is the oil at the right level and not overfilled?

    i havnt removed the rocker cover. And i don't believe it was over filled as its been fine for about 6 months now . how do clean the filter ?

    soak it in hot water with washing up liquid and washing power, leave it for a while then scrub it with a old toothbrush, then make sure its fully dry befor re fitting

    ok remove the oil filler cap and look inside. You should see a metal panel, if you can see something else, i.e. the tappets/rockers then your missing that panel which will need replaced.

    Did you notice the car leaking oil before you fitted the Induction Kit?

    Difference is that pre filter any oil vapour would be burnt off, now its just vented to engine bay!
