Camming my vts!

  1. #1
Rite I'm going to cam my vts and just wanna no what cams people recommend. Also if I do it should I get a re map straight the way or will it be ok for a month or two.

Will I need any other parts apart from the cams?

    Cheers

    Newman PH3s are common place
It would be alright to wait a month but you wont get nearly the potential of your machine untill its mapped propperly
Go for some Truelock Vernier pulleys aswell

Vts have adjustable cam pulleys anyway?

Loads of people just install and leave them unmapped.. £150 for +10-15bhp or £150+£300-£600 for 15-20 bhp

    I know what i'd do .

For mapping. The problem is the car will have a shit idle and will run abit ruff. A map makes the car run better and uses the full potential of the cam. Also what cams are you buying for a vts for 150? There 250 plus. I'd go for 708's or gmc's own brand of a very similar spec.

    as above really.

well ive been tempted by the newman 708's i was onli asking about the month gap because of funds but a remap is about 250 i guess

also i was going to get my valve seats cut at angles apparently this will increase bhp?

will the 708's drop straight in and wont have to replace any other engine parts?

I have bought a new run round for the mrs vts. I have some 708 cams to fit. No plans to get it mapped at all.

My car has 708's and i have been in a one with newman PH3's and couldnt tell the difference lol both very quick... with good breathing mods and a good map you should deffo see over 145bhp

Have all you people literally just swapped the cams over from the standard ones?
  13. #13
you will need some gasket sealant, a small torque wrench that goes down low - i had to borrow one that did 10 ft lbs or what ever it was..
  14. #14
That's brill mate have you had any running problems since the cams went in?

You will need to sort a few other parts to benefit from the cams

    What would that be mate?

why you do the cams might aswell change waterpump and cambelt while doing cams, i put catcams 708s in mine, havent had it mapped yet but can notice the differance higher up the rev range, idle aint too bad but it does have its days when it idles badly but thats prob down the ICV , but id go for 708`s IMO
  24. #24
is it worth doing the waterpump? do they have issues? I'm new to the entire saxo thing!

Mine is cammed and it's as lumpy as a lumpy thing on idle!
  25. #25
I've just done my pump and belt lol kind of annoying ah well

i have ph3's and mine idle realy bad and runs a lil rough but when ur in the up range they certain kick the ass off the standard kit
