Important! : Big Problem

  1. #1
Today I was planning to re seal the rocker cover gasket on my 1.1 saxo. and I dropped one of the spacers in the grass and I haven't been able to find it. Will it be OK without it or where will I be able to get one from. Do you think the scrappers would let me take one out of an engine.

    Thanks in advance

Wouldnt have thought so, you could always give them a ring and ask though

depends on the scrappies. one near me just lets you do whatever aslong as its paid for, so i went ahead and got a new cover + baffle + spacers

you can run it without though, just will make a mess of the inside of the rocker cover (oil rushing up!)

Are you sure it would work without the spacer. the bolt seems to turn alot more without it. I'm seriously worried, I haven't even drove the car yet, its my first car i do my test next week.

i've driven mine with a bolt sheared off, just spat oil everywhere.

just do up the bolt tight enough so that its not leaking. the spacer stops you overtightening it, and also leaves a gap for the baffle. will just be noisy (baffle moving) and possibly throw oil onto the inside of the cover

i did this, and until my new one arrived, i got an socket (out of a cheap old crappy set) cut it down to the same hight as the other spacer and used that, bodge i no lol but worked fine

just bang a load of washers on the same thickness as the other spacer till you get another one

i wouldnt bother trying to tighten it tbh, without the spacer your more likley to "dint" in the top of the cover when tightening the nut to stop it leaking, which will probs cause it to leak when you replace the spacer

i had a long bolt holding my rocker cover on when the original bolt snapped
