Think I have diagnosed my problem from this forum but.....

Hi I have been browsing your forums trying to diagnose a problem with my car, saxo 1.0 1998. Reading your posts it seems to be a problem with my icv. I'm not a car fanatic and I'm a little unsure about tackling things myself, but seeing as the part is £168 not including fitting (citroen dealer) I have decided to have a go myself... I have searched online and I'm coming across various parts they all look the same, but none say they will fit the 1.0... will one for the 1.1 work fine?
Also is there any chance i might totally mess up the car by taking it off?

    Thanks

im guessing you have idling problems. have you tried cleaning the icv first?
if you have bad idling problems take a read of this: http://www.saxperience.com/forum/sho...t=cleaning+icv

also shows you how to remove and clean the icv

Thanks. I have read that post, but my ivc looks different to that, that's why I was reluctant to clean it.. Yeah it sometime revs when i have stopped, and looses revs while driving at constant speed, and bunny hops.
I could post a picture of mine is that would help..

i reckon the idle control on yours will be the idle stepper motor more than a valve ( a little black box on the throttlebody)

i think just take it to bits and give it a clean
    or buy a scrap one

What's the difference between the two?

Another thing I have noticed is I am typing in the code that is on my idle controller motor into google, and Im getting Vauxhal parts up.. it looks the same but doesn't say its for a saxo

the icv is more like a valve, whereas the stepper motor twists the bit that sticks out the back of it, in and out. This pushes against the throttle arm (the one that the throttle cable pulls)

If you watch it when its started and idling, it will twist in and out to get the idle right
