VTS Timing belt kits

Hey im about to order one tomorrow, just had a look on good old ebay to see some prices before i go to motorfactors and ive seen cam belt, tensioner and water pump here for £105. Its a 'Gates' timing belt...is that a cheapy or what? im not sure as i sort of guessed around 130 for timing belt and water pump?

I might go to motor factors anyways, as then it will be within the next day or so! Just want to know on price!

Also ive seen a clutch on ebay for 50 quid, is that about right? Again il probably go to motorfactors unless they will rip me.

Say away from clutches for 50 quid!! Get a valeo one for like 80 quid and cam belt kits with out water pump are like 80 then water pump like 20 quid.

    Only get gates belts.

+1^^ false economy on crap cheapo parts, steer clear of ebay bargain parts, they'll bite you on the arse. Had one customer in for a clutch who managed a whole 110 miles before his ebay bargain clutch exploded, as for cambelt kits, Gates or SKF are the ones to go for, nothing else compares.

+1 on SKF for me, great parts.

You can get an SKF timing belt kit from eurocarparts for 110, but 30% off if you use the code "ISLEWORTH3" before 12 tonight! mega bargain.

One thing worth noting when changing the idler pulley. You will find that the bolt that retains it is VERY stiff due to the threadlock applied to it so give it a good soak with Plus-Gas or WD40 before, and if necessary during, its removal otherwise to bolt gets VERY stressed and weakened in the process such that there is a high risk of it failing when it is reassembled. Also, remove all the old threadlock from the thread of the bolt before reassembly or it will get equally stressed during reassembly.

Trust me, I speak from experience!!

I am not sure about the Gates timing belt, but I have to agree that SKF timing belts are pretty decent and is affordable.
