I had piper 4-1, supersprint race centre section with de-cat and no silencer, piper 3.5" back box and it was not raspy at all! More of a deep sound. Pops and bangs constantly.

It will be horrible on the motorway

I found with a piper 4-1 it had an awefull drone after about 65mph, mainly between 70-80mph, after 80 it tailed off.

But that was with a OMP Inox fitted, now I had I racelend 4 2 1 manifold fitted before and never got this sort of drone at all, so I put it down to the large collector on the 4-1

I would say supersprint 4-2-1 would be better tbh.

Would it be raspy and you have to change the oil filter don't you ?

4-1's are a fair bit louder in general then 4-2-1's. Id go for a 4-2-1 defo.

Id have the 4-2-1 purely because its quiter, iv only got a backbox on mine atm and its already as loud as i want it but i really wanna get rid of the cat and free up the exhaust system so its gonna have to get a little louder haha. Im gona have my manifold made up by the guy that does all my exhaust bits personally rather than buying off the shelf.

You may find this thread helpfull?
    http://www.saxperience.com/forum/showthread.php?t=55219

The bit that im guessing you will be most interested in is this:

"In many cases 4-into-1 headers are designed for racing applications where the vehicle is being driven at or near redline during competition. The 4-into-1 design maximizes top end power, whereas the 4-2-1 evenly distributes power throughout the power band. There are cases where a 4-into-1 header works better than the 4-2-1, and in those cases we will only manufacture a 4-into-1 design."

People like the raceland from what iv read but you had to move the oil filer I think it is which may put you off?
  17. #17
Well my mate said he would be able to move it as there is a guide on here. Just wondering what everyone recommends.
  18. #18
just to let you know mate as know ones answered it, the supersprint mani on a mk2 vtr doesnt require you to move the oil filter, thats just the raceland mani
  19. #19
How much are supersprint manifolds ?
  20. #20
The Supersprint is the best quality manifold out there so it comes with a big price tag.
Supersprint 8v Manifold for Citroen Saxo
  21. #21
I think a raceland one will do, bit out of my range.
  22. #22
better order one quick as raceland are not making any more this year as they are moving, stock will run out.
  23. #23
I will get a second hand one off the for sale section.
  24. #24
If your on a bufget second hand is defo best
  25. #25
always wondered this, 4-2-1 better for midrange, 4-1 better top end revs.

when you've got your foot down, and ya going for it. where are ya revs?
