would it be possible to throttle body and turbo a saxo vts?

and if so what sort of costs would i be looking at to get them at?
  2. #2
I know its possible seen a thread on it I think the persons selling the car now just don't know about the cost mate

Ahh nice one mate do you think you could send the link my way?

Don't worry bout the cost then mate. I don't have my vts yet i just want to get an idea on how much the whole project is going to cost.

Ahh no worries them mate cheers for the help

whats wiht all the mates? lol

Why throttle body AND turbo? Pick either one unless you have DEEP pockets would be a bitch to set up
  8. #8
well there are people sayin that you can do both and there are others saying you cant so i was just wondering if you could really lol.

and I think when i get the car im going to throttle body it now

You can do it but from what I've gleaned is that as you are pressurising the inlet tract with a turbo you might as well just have one throttle body feeding the cylinders instead of 4 individual ones and then having to build an suitable inlet to accommodate the air coming from the turbo. I believe some engines rub a TB'd and turbo'd setup but at the end of the day it costs big bucks?

You can do both, but it is tricky to do and difficult to set up right you would need somebody who really knows what they are doing. Then you have to consider that if your forking out for turbo and throttle bodies you could just use that extra money on a bigger turbo instead of the bodies and make more power easier.

Throttle bodies is the cheapest route to go

throttle bodies is cheapest, but for (imo) not much gain. The power gains are really in the mapping and quality/ability of the standalone ECU that you use.

    why not supercharge it to?

Thanks for the replies guys Im probably going to speak to GMC or some other company that does both and get their opinions on it and how it would be best to go about doing it.

yes do-able. but on forced induction no real gain over a common inlet with single large throttle body, especially with correctly designed trumpets etc. like DP alloy intake.

blocks85 has done ITBs with sealed plenum and turbo.

however even the stock inlet works pretty well. easy 300+bhp on stock inlet.

    I'm going to run 70mm itb's and a c38 rotrex to feed a gt40 turbo...

300bhp on the stock plastic intake?

The only thing stopping me from winding mine up is im worried its going to eat the inlet, but if people are doing 300 on the same type of inlet then its all good

why not fit an s1 rallye inlet mate? im running one?

and the 300bhp he speaks of is 16v...alot more boost required o get an 8v to 300bhp which would most probs crack the stock one!

    WHY ??
you can get more power than the block + g/box can stand with either the s/c or the turbo and you only have 2 wd drive so its totally pointless.

think he was taking the piss lol
