Does anyone make a full baffled sump or just the plate, and is it worth running one on an 8v track car?

#2make your own. easy enough, sure pugsport "used" to make one, but may have been someone else???
normally expensive to buy -
#3Id need the bugger welding up, no welder of my own. Im quite surprised there isnt someone making them on here, usually some is making something aftermarket!
Who runs one on their track car and who doesnt? -
#4from what ive seen the constella one is about the best for the money as a bolt in one
its what i plan to fit there a very good idea on any car that gets a large lateral g load imo as they stop the oil slushing away from the pump so you dont loose oil pressure whilst cornering hard and will prolong your engines life so doesnt matter 8 or 16v tbh
similar principal to a foam filled tank stopping fuel surge and so often overlooked things on cars that get used hard1 user thanked this post: -
#5I use one on my track car, well worth it imo
-
#6Pugsport made a baffled kit.
They're a bit more intiricate than a simple plate and cheaper than a mullered engine.
Alex I'm surprised toads engine doesn't have one, would have thought pulloneoff would have at least thought it would be a good idea. -
#7I run a constella one. Sump is coming off in next few says - I'll try and get pics. Well worth the small investment to protect the big investment!2 users thanked this post: ,

#8What is the going price of the constella ones? Granted my engine isn't a high power build or expensive but I'd rather it not die of starvation and cause me another engine swap
-
#9I got mine unused but secondhand so don't know im afraid. But if it's for a road car it's not such a big problem. If you're running sticky tires on track then it's much more important. I guess it's down to how hard you're gonna drive

#10Were on offer at 120 rather than 169 a few weeks back......Quote:What is the going price of the constella ones? Granted my engine isn't a high power build or expensive but I'd rather it not die of starvation and cause me another engine swap
Trying to get one too!
Ross I've pmd you again

#11Mines a pugsport kit, definitely as Ryan says, more than a bit of metal with a hole in it.
Mine has trap doors to let the oil flow in but not out of certain areas, and is specifically boxes around the pump.
I'm surprised you don't have one as well Alex, I guess I just assumed having a highly tuned NA engine like that it would have one on it! -
#12He had one but it never got fitted iircQuote:Pugsport made a baffled kit.

Its been high on the to do list since i got the motor but everything else ended up taking priority breaking lol
its getting purchased before the clutch so that i have to fit it before the car can be used again as tbh i dont fancy a mullered motor -
#13Its going to get a thrashing on the track believe me, but best to future proof too in my view and its always something I can sell in future
-
#14Guess they were more worried about passing the buck for mullering an engine than fitting the sump kit thenQuote:He had one but it never got fitted iirc

#15Something like that man
I keep out of all that just happy the motor goes well lol
As said its on the list for mine now as tbh it is needed -
#17assuming you hadnt heard about all that ross?
somehow someone didnt check valve clearances (oversized valves) to the piston cutouts and a valve snapped off on the rollers at northampton
there was lots of argueing and in the end the motor i now have was build for dave at some cost
anyway back on topic

few links so you can see the sort of stuff that goes into the bolt in kits and how they are a lot more than just a plate in the sump -
#18no mate i didn't hear about that at all
Is there a thread on it? I had a similar issue if you remember with the springs binding - cost me a camshaft, a set of valves, and buckets (and a £500 mapping session!).
Back on topic as you say - my baffle has a little flap in it too - quite a complex little thing to make by the looks of it! Deffo I have a constella one looking at that pic - not the Peugeot Sport one. Recommended! -
#19i remember you saying about squared off cams yea manQuote:no mate i didn't hear about that at all

and yea the main difference is the constella iirc bolts onto the actual sump bolts
the pugsport one goes on with the crank bolts
but they both have flappy doors and bits in the design -
#20Thinking of getting the constella one too, Bit easier than the pugsport one but you need to remove the pump to fit.
