engine differences

   whats the differences look wise between a mk2 1.1 engine and mk2 vtr engne?
   ie injector colour ect cam cover colour thanks

   ones aluminium block and the vtr is cast iron.

   to a complete noob how would i tell difference? both just look same how can i tell between cast iron and alluminium thanks

   Providing they havent been painted just by looking at it really - the iron block will most likely be rusty and/or black dull metal colour. Alu will be a grey/silver colour, maybe slight white coloured corrosion on it

   They look the same, providing the throttle body is on the side and not ontop...
   
   The police wont notice a 500cc bigger engine if thats what you are looking for

   lol no what it is is that i bought my car and that its had a few wee things done and i bought it off a garage as a non runner so never seen the owner and garage knew nothing about the car and it looks like the engines been out so just wanted to see if by any chance if it had been changed to a vtr lump and not recorded ect. so if a magnet sticks could be a vtr lump?
