Ive bought myself Newman ph3 cams for my vts and i am a bit stuck on if i should have it mapped or not ? my friend does remapping for black code and he said he can do it for £200 or do i take it some where where they have a rolling road and can be set up properly ?
  2. #2
    you really need it mapped.
  3. #3
On standard ECU best off going to Chipwizards to get it mapped , Also get a dyno print out ect...
  4. #4

Standalone = The ECU that came with the car, fitted by citreon.

As it says on Kam's website under additional information: ECU Requires remap

standalone ecu's didn't come from citroen.

You would need the likes of an omex, dta ect or even go for a pred ecu to get free maping

These ECU's allow you to have free mapping? What does that mean? What ones best. I'm going to map my car in the next few months.

They can be moved from car to car and can be mapped at home by pc. so every time you change air filter or manifold etc you can update it for optimum power

not being funny or trying to sound like a dick but logicguy why are you posting on a subject that you obviously know nothing about, if you dont know anything on the thread then dont post unhelpfull comments.

Like the rest of the guys say, this set of cams will need a remap otherwise they wont perform anything like they should and the car will be lumpy and idle shit tbh. if youve got the money a standalone would be great, its a much easier secu to remap, doesnt need unlocking , if you want to go back to standard later on down the line to sell or sumin youve still got the original un mapped ecu to put it back to standard, allows easier mapping functions and loads more. pred would be best cus the guy that does them will map your for you aswell for free. talk to luthor on here (i think thats his username) and see what he says. ph3's work well with uprated throttlebodies or individule throttlebodies.

oh right, just use that and get it remapped, you can drive it unmapped, so when you put the cams in, if you really wanted to you could drive it to say atspeed cus i think its about £250 for a remap, thats with printout aswell and they are one of the best for saxo's and pugs

give them a ring and see what they recomend

As far as I know Atspeed don't remap standard saxo/106 ECU's? correct me if I'm wrong though?
  17. #17
    atspeed dont map standard ecu.

    so wouldnt be 250 quid.

if you want to do cheap then go chipwizard.

other than that save get a standalone ecu.

do some research into the different ecu on the market.

do you have a single plug ecu or 3 plug?

oh shit just had a look, didnt realise they didnt map the standard, why do you reckon that is then?

    chipwizards it is

    But standalone is alot cooler

    Sounds good.

When you say mapped at home on your PC. Do you have pre-sets you can choose from or is it more of a case of changing parameters?

VinceVTS - Sorry, i thought Standalone was a standard ECU.
  21. #21
You can change everything, its not the sort of thing anyone can do though. Really you need to pay a decent mapper to do it, which isnt cheap.
  22. #22
400 to 450 I think...... For you guessing you just want a cammed vts no more then go chipwizard if you plan to go more then look at a standalone.

ive got a three plug mate

I got a set of ph3's for my 3-plug vts an I picked up a dastek piggy bak ecu cheap and gonna get that fitted wit the cams and mapped up locally for £140!

if you plan for more mods in the future save up and do it at the same time, always remember to map last because you do not want to get down a few months and want to add itb's or headwork ect and want it mapped again

Wayne can also map TB's on std ecu.

Is there a list of reputable remapping companies on the site anywhere? I'm looking at camming my VTS with PH3s, will have all the other breathing mods such as 421 mani decat etc etc, just not sure where I should be looking to take it locally.

Not planning on going forced induction or TBs or anything, just want a bit more power for road and track! Looks like a chipwizard remap on my standard ECU will be fine, I'll check them out and see where the closest chipwizards mapper is.

Edit: for some reason I thought they were a network of dealers, not just one place in Lancashire. No big deal, not too far for me to go as long as it's worth it!
