Saxsport 2" Race System vs Supersprint 2" Race System.

As above, what are the pros and cons for each system, both the 2" straight through race systems with no centre silencer.
all coments about both from everyone who has them/had them.

thinking about swaping the piper cat back for one of them, cant decide, part of me wants the supersprint but i dont really know much about the saxsport.

    regards,

    ricky.

I got a supersprint 2" race system. With the cat on(in the manifold) it wasnt raspy at all and was quiet.

Now i have the raceland manifold on its really raspy when you got your foot down but doesnt have a motorway drone and can be quiet when you want it to be. Lots of pops and bangs on downchange, upchange (depending on revs) and pops when engine breaking and going into low revs.

Cant recommend it enough and KAM has uber fast delivery too.

im going for supersprint backbox but with a saxsport middle pipe as the saxsport pipe is stainless , oh and a raceland mani

I'd go saxsport as is stainless and should last a lot longer

did you get much poping and banging before you ditched the standard mani and cat?
i love popping, my piper pops every now and then on over run but i want more rasp and more poping and banging!

for the moment ive got the standard mani with cat in the down pipe from mani. but might get the janspeed 4 branch with hi flo sports cat in the future.

the boys at KAM say that the aluminised steel supersprint has similar protective qualities as the stainless steel stuff tho? obviously not as good as stainless but if they say its pretty good it must be half decent.

My car was over fuelling at the time i had the cat so had the odd pop but nothing compared to now even had new lambdas so should be fuelling better, with the cat they were quiet and pathetic pops now it like spits and bangs.

i want to decat, i had a sportex manifold that decatted it and it was a hell of a sound, but it didnt fit right, and was vibrating on the gear linkage and had to grind flats on the washers to go around the welds on the header pipes when bolting to the head, very poorly made :/ looks like im guna have to decat! aha do you know which manifolds fit mk2 with out relocating oilfilter?
  9. #9
4-1s do and supersprint 4-2-1 does. But honestly mate the oil filter conversion was easiest part of changing manifolds i found.

really? what extra bits did you actually have to buy to do it and fit the manifold? a trip to citroen would be need when fiting new manifold anyway as one of the studs is snapped. and how much did it all cost?
  11. #11
Just the filter and insert. Cost about 6 quid i think. Just got to plug the return then. Moving the filter took about 5 mins though. Tapping the hole was tricky but we had budget taps.

might give it ago when im ready for a manifold then.

need to get hold of a supersprint system and fit that first so i can sell the piper cat back and hopefully have enough to buy the manifold

My old superspint started to flake after around 6months (albeit across winter)

I'd personally always go stainless if stainless was the same price's as mild steel.

    thats just the coating tho?
im guessing it would last a good few years before it starting to rust/rott through and eventualy break off.

What good is the coating then if it flakes off?! I'd be surprised if they lasted 1year of British weather before the joins start to flake away and it becomes a ball-ache to get it to seal

If people want to go for stainless straight through then I'd go for the kam stainless system

Had mine 6 months now and it looks good as new, Not a mark on it or any flaking. I heard that the aluminised was good protection too.

well bog standard mild steel exhausts from factory last a good few years so im pretty sure that an aluminised steel one is going to out-live any mild steel exhaust, its just a fact.
